Thanks for the comparison....I don't pay much attention to Acura, but that is definitely an odd design concept, and certainly looks better blacked out. I would have liked to have been a "fly on the wall' in the meeting when the Design Office told Engineering how much airflow they intended to restrict with that grille configuration! 
Looks like they made it up by being a bottom-breather in the lower fascia.

what even impressed me the most was that i actually changed the grill all by myself .... without even ruining my french manicured nails yaay C300 ......... yeppers that sure if the " before " grill
which i actually still have and hmmmmm maybe ebay it 
??
