standard on 2011...
on that note, why doesn't mercedes include every option for free...
really great way of capturing value
another one who wants everything for free

Because....Mercedes Benz isn't about Value...If you wanted value, you can always buy a Honda. lol MB charges you because they can and they know you'll pay for it. lol

they put the xenons in P2 and other "useless" stuff like the rear sunshade and the fold downs. People who wanted the xenons (which is like everyone) got it for that option alone.

hope i didnt get folding seats.
my friend drove my car to play airsoft and thousands of BBs are all in the trunk somewhere.
takes forever to clean up and now some of the bbs are "inside" my car through somewhere the folding seat!!!
you can hear BBs roll over my car somewhere when i turn or stop.

It's about simple utility and usefulness. Also, if MB wanted to keep their resale value up a bit, they would increase the utility of their cars in simple cost effective ways...such as....wait for it....standard fold down seats. People on a used car lot may want an MB but need it for more than schlepping themselves back and forth from A to B. Being more "useful" would keep the values up and make their used cars more "desirable".

I wanted folding seats really badly but it was only bundled in the P2 package for '09s and I didn't want to plop down the extra cash for that
The salesperson tried to sell me on the fact that the lack of folding-seats is a security feature, so valets can't get into your cabin from the trunk ...

That makes no sense whatsoever. Your fold down rear seats can only be unlatched from the trunk. Not from inside the cabin. If you lock the trunk, then you should be fine.

Sucker here checking in...
I'm the sucker here checking in who bought a used c300 and found out later that folding seats is an option!! Wtf all the way. Every cars I've driven pass 2000 does this except MB. Way to go MB.
This is not A luxury option, this is a utility and should be included standard!
MB might as well make rear windows opening an option! Oh golly.

My '12 250 does not have folding seats, although I don't mind. It did surprise me a bit, though, as even the base '11 Mustang GT I owned previously had them, even though I never actually used them for anything. If I have to carry something large, I just use the wife's SUV.

This seems to be an important feature for you. Just curious, why did you buy the car knowing it did not have fold down seats?

FWIW, my 2002 Acura TL-S does NOT have folding rear seats, however my 2012 MB C350 does (which came with it standard).

Apparently Mercedes-Benz doesn't just skimp out on the folding rear seat on its lower level cars...I was at my dealer this morning, and decided to look around. I drove, and proceeded to price out a CLS550 (which I have to say is absolutely wonderful - the car felt like it had enough torque to affect the rotation of the earth!). Even on a $90k car, you still have to pay $400+ for the folding rear seat. Even full leather seats were an option (MB Tex should not be available on such a car). Mercedes-Benzes are cars you buy if you're looking for a good value, but they are great cars.

that does suck, but I had to laugh out loud when I read the thread title......it's sooo Mercedes Benz isn't it? I recall adding that as an option on one of my cars in the past
