I ask the same question and they told me that the tune is invisible for the dealer and it will not be notice.

Is it a totally different driving experience or just very subtle?
Also will the ECU adapt to be softer over time just like the factory one does?

I have a 2008 C350 in NY. For the ones who have the C350 I want to know will it shift better in the S mode from 1st to 2nd w/o the lag? If it does I will send my ecu next week to powerchip.

You can feel the difference on 1st to 2nd no lagging and on high speeds the car responds better.

If it will adapt back to a more sluggish state, why upgrade it?

TCU has nothing to do with ECU/throttle response.

you are mistaken for one another.

after the tune, the throttle response will be sharper and stay that way. It may adapt slightly, but not that much.

TCU will adapt to where the transmission shifts depends on how you drive.

but the 20HP is really only realized with high performance air filter and freer flowing exhaust right? Which if that is the case will cost another $600 or more depending on the exhaust system.

By the way, Im really considering getting it, just trying to think things through my head, not trying to sound negative... I guess I'm kinda hoping that you guys can give me a great reason to just get it!! Times are tough and even $350 is a lot of money if the gains are not realized.

for those of you who are still deciding, here's my opinion on the tune from a driver and an engineer's point of view.

on paper, the tune basically gives you about 20 hp and 10 tq, but more importantly, it adjusts the throttle response and the way the engine behaves.

it is true that the hp/tq gain means nothing without dyno-ing it, but seriously, I am not going to drop a bill or 2 to do a before/after dyno for a $350 tune, and i have a feeling that most people in the non-amg c class crowd won't either. so i guess we'll never really find out. however, i strongly believe that the most important thing is how much you can feel the difference. no, the tune is not going to turn your car into a lambo or a c63, but it does make the car behave a lot more sportier.

ive always hated the throttle lag on our cars. it caused me a lot of embarrassing / semi-dangerous moments too (eg. stepping on the gas to pull into a faster lane on the freeway, only to find myself going at the exact same speed and the person behind me honking the &*%$ out of me. does this happen to anyone else??). however the frustrating lag is now almost gone. it accelerates and rawrs when i step on it just as i want it to.

also, i feel that it makes the tourqe a lot more reachable, most easily noticed at the twisties. before the tune, the power didnt seem like it wanted to go to the wheels when im in a turn, but now, the power kicks in waaay sooner. before, if i do a very aggressive tight turn, i just get a low whiny noise from the engine, but now, i get tire screeches. this plus the improved response equals a lot more car control.

gas mileage gains: it's too early for me to tell. tho based on my driving style, there probably won't be a difference. yet it makes sense. the tune makes the car burn fuel more efficiently, which means that if you give the same amount of gas, you go faster; or if u drive just as fast, you get more miles out of your gas.

and just to clarify, you dont need any additional mods to realize the difference. obviously the more performance mods you do the more power you get, but that doesnt mean an ecu tune itself wont do anything.

in summary, i cannot tell you how much hp i gained exactly, but what i can tell you is that i gained a lot more control, and the car is a whole lot more fun to drive. for only $350 and for a guy who loves driving like me, i think it's money well spent.

hope it helps. now that i've hyped myself up, imma go for a drive

LOL, awesome, glad it wasn't just me. The car definitely sounds like it wants to go faster...it's like the frame of the car jolts forward but the car itself doesn't want to at high speeds. Im sending out my ecu next week! Much rather pay $350 for a tune than a sprintbooster...
