Pontiac G8 GT - 2010 C300 sport 6 speed

I recently traded my 2008 G8 GT for a C300 6 speed. At first i was regretting it because of the loss in performance (361hp-228hp) but now im getting to love my little benz! The feel of the car on the highway, handling, etc. I still miss that V8 sound though!! Do you guys think it was a dumb move?

It really is a personal thing. If you like it, don't sweat it. Both are great cars but I admit that big ol small block V8 does sound good!
Congrats on the new ride

power fine I understand but common benz vs Pontiac you can not compare the brand the class and the looks. Think of it this way how often would you need that extra horse power? how often do you race? thats my opinion.

They're not THAT far off. Both are high quality foreign (the G8 was designed and built in Australia) sports sedans in the same price bracket. The Benz gives you more class/refinement, the Pontiac more power..it's a tradeoff.

My friend had a G8 GT when it first came out. It was ok, but it wasn't anything special. Don't regret what you did, the C-class is an amazing car. Get an x-pipe put on it and you won't regret a thing. The G8 wasn't even loud, my friend put cherrybomb exhaust on it and you still couldn't hear anything but a slight rumble until he hit over 3-4000 rpm... Which was barely ever. You heard it more on the inside than on the out. Enjoy your C!

The GT is hot AND it looks good. I actually would have gotten that instead of the Benz if it had navigation lol. So add that to the crazy list of cars I was considering instead of the 350

e92 M3
Audi S5
C63
Pontiac G8 GT
Audi S4
Cadillac CTS
Infiniti G37
Chevy Camaro SS

I guess it came down to elimination.

I had the g37S coupe. I loved that car with a passion. But it simply wasn't a mercedes-Benz. After only 2 years of me beating the crap out of it, you could tell I was putting a real strain on the tranny and engine. In my 98' SL I used to have, that thing took a beating for almost 7 years before I traded up, and she still drove like the first day when I traded it in.

You won't be disappointed.
I was first I was concerned about the rather mediocre power of the C300, but the handling, road feel and dynamics felt just right which contributes to its great performance and makes up for its power.
You don't really need 300 hp, I drive with a lead foot and it accelerates very nicely.

MB cars are built like a tank and you will appreciate its long term reliability, and of course you get the prestige of having that star on your grille.

The G8 is a great car, too bad Pontiac sold it for a short time before it got axed.

Congrats on your C300 especially with the rare 6-speed.

somehow I rather have the G8 GT then the C300. knowing that it's actually a Holden-a GM brand, but not GM ****ty- it was a very nice car inside and out from what i've seen.

In March I was offered a deal to buy a G8 GT. I drove it and was very disappointed. It was a lumbering behemoth. It did not feel like it had 361 hp and the handling felt heavy. The interior was odd too. I didn't the it at the auto show andmy test drive reminded me of that fact.

It was too bad because to me the G8 has one of the best stances ever and it just looks great (except the tail lights). I had an exhaust and wheels lined up too. I really wanted to like the G8, but the handling was just too numb.

Good job buying the 6 speed. I think you'll find that the C with the 6 speed is way more responsive than the G8.

I don't think that would be a fair comparison tho. don't forget the G8 is a E-class and 5-series size car. The 5 and the E doesn't handle like the 3 or the C as well.

I never drove the G8, but have the 5 and the E (new or old). I can say that is someone really likes the way 3 or the C handles (i.e. small car handling) they're not going to like the 5 or the E.

Thanks for the responses. The G8 is a beautiful car but doesn't compare to the quality of the benz. Im just glad i found a steel grey 6 speed C300. Fun to drive!!

For what's it's worth, by giving up on the G8, you no longer have an orphan.

R.I.P. Pontiac.
