thinking about powder coating my c350's 5-spoke AMG rims black with a red lip, while leaving the mercedes emblem chrome and bolts chrome. any opinions??

also thinking about either powder coating the brake calipers red or putting on the brembo brake covers...

Paintpowdercoat. them. Your car's brakes are already fine. No point in trying to falsely impress others with something as stupid as brake covers. But as others have described it, it's a "don't look too close" mod. Painting the calipers is just as easy. Grab some paint, and brush it on. But yeah, powdercoating is also an option.

Too broke to buy 70 dollar brake covers for brake calipers on a car in which said person is clearly driving screams cheap and broke ? I have to disagree with that .

You must own a set I'm guessing. Did you know you can spray paint the rotors flat black and tell people they're carbon fiber? Rustolium $2.98 a 16oz can - it's cheap!

I don't own a set , i just don't see how a mod like that makes it seems as though the driver is broke and can't afford said car . I could agree if someone put a huge wing on , than that would cheapen the look off the car but to go as far as saying that person cant afford it is silly to me . Truth is everyone has their own opinion on stuff . I like the covers so im a little bias i guess .

Wait, do people actually use a brush on their calipers?

Yes. I was surprised too. The ceramic caliper kits are brush on and it is incredible how well it smooths out. It looked 1000 times better than when I sprayed my old car's calipers.

Someday you are going to want to sell this car and when that time comes, powdercoated wheels are going to be a problem. Dealers won't want them and private buyers are going to look elsewhere.

+1 on that. There is a member on this forum that is having trouble getting rid of his blacked out 18"s. Just be mindful of that when you are considering powdercoating your rims. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder!

Buy a couple cans of Plastidip rubber black .... put 3 or 4 coats on and you can peel it off anytime. The red lip might be harder to accomplish, but they have red plastidip also. It would be like 15 bucks
