Gas Pedal cut off on the Freeway

Gas Pedal cut off on the Freeway
I was cruisin on the freeway today @ about 70 mph when I get a message on the instrument panel that read "ESP Currently Unavailable. Please see Operaters Manual". Then the gas pedal cut off (power to the car) I was pretty much pressing the gas pedal all the way down and nothing. I started to slow down and any car does when you release your foot off the gas pedal.
I pulled to the right put it in park , then drive and tried to drive off...nothing.
So I turned it off and back on. And it worked again.
This ever happen to you guys? Can anyone tell me what this might be?

I would check the following:
1) Check the battery (if it's old, they do this free at most auto stores)
2) Check the Wheel Speed Sensor
3) Check the brake switch
4) Check your transmission fluid
5) Check your MAF sensor.
My guess would either be 2 or 5. Have you neglected any services and/or changed your air fliters?
If your check engine light turned on then they should be able to pull up the fault codes in memory and figure out what caused it.

Happened to me a number of times. I was driving fairly hard before the warning came out though. But once I would pull the car over and restart the engine, the warning light would go away and the car would drive normally.

I did that too. It's hard to believe that something happens because after that there's no sign of something wrong right?

This could mean possible engine failure or something's off within the computer system that's causing a short circuit with the computer and the drivetrain. I highly suggest you get checked because I've heard of cases where the electronic brakes fail and you don't want to have your benz ram into a wall or another car at 60 mph.

I still haven't taken it to the dealership shince it first happened. Hard to make time to take it. And I only drive it on the weekends so it's not that often it happens...BUT I drove it on sunday and it happened 3 times! I just throw it in neutral now wait about 10 seconds, turn it back on and pop it back into Drive. Stupid Car...and I'm almost positive it's because of the Tuning I did to it (Chipping the ECU)
Those guys said, we've done hundreds and that hasn't ever happened, that's odd.
Well the good thing (I hope) is that I am still under warranty with Mercedes under the MFR and have an extended warranty with carmax for up to 100K miles. It only has 23k right now.

Definitely take it to the dealer. The car stores all the faults, so if they prove neglect on your end, they could void the warranty. It takes like 15 minutes to drop it off and get a rental.

Anyway, I'm glad they looked into it and did something about it instead of fighting me for it. Supposedly a $1700 repair if I didnt have an extended warranty.

If you look at the bottom of that link it also does alot of voltage for the engine, suspension and does relaying for the elctronics of the car. Maybe that was it, I had a 2008 C350 and ECU tuned it and drove it hard almost 70k miles and never had this issue. hopefully the 2011 doesnt do it..

Update to this: replacing the SAM unit didnt fix it, so I took it back again & the dealer reflashed my ECU. (I had an ECU tune previously) Once the factory ECU software was put back, the car runs fine again, no more stalling!! 
Money wasted on the ECU tune, but I'm just glad that the issue is fixed. Super dangerous having your engine cut off while doing 70-80 mph on the freeway!

who was the ECU tune done by? my 08 was tuned and I never had a problem and my 2011 is tuned, 2 months no probs so far. just weekends tho mainly, but Im curious if I got the same tune as u did. makes me wonder
