I Hate Mr. Pinkerton
So Im pretty mad at this point, but there is nothing I can do. I tell myself that its on the bottom of the windshield, practically where my dash meets the windshield. I park it until today (Monday) because I have been driving our other cars. Today I take it out and drive 5 minutes to Subway and the chip with the crack spreads like a mother...in total about a 10 inches long. However, the only good side is that it cracked downwards toward the edges, so I still dont see it when I sit in the car -- it is near the pinkerton stamp. I instantly go to a windshield repair place and get the second chip filled for $40.
sigh...I just know that I will need to replace it, but Ill hold it off until next year probably. My deductible is $500. Im guessing the insurance company will have to pay a boatload too, and I have rain sensing wipers so its even worse.
Im mad that it probably wont have the same factory seal...
the sad part is that I paid about 1000 to get the hood and front bumper wrapped to protect myself from rock chips and now this happens.

dealer 1st attemp to re-seal but the noise is still there, then they agree to re-seat and re-seal and the result is as good as factory seal..
we actually took a new c300 measure the noise at front windsheild w/ dB meter and compare to my c300 after the repair, the noise level is identical..
maybe you should consider change your insurance to $100 deductable for the comprehensive for a few month then ask the insurance to pay for new windsheild..
its just that it seems like glass is really weaksauce. I know others here have had problems with windshield chips, and on our other vehicles, I am up and down the same highway with no issues.

My windshield was changed last year and the cost was $880 which was an original glass with the MB Star. The label is available and was included in the replacement.
Unless you are driving the Beirut taxicab model, we all have rain sensors. I do.
The only discomfort is the $500 deductible. Find out who your dealer farms out their glass work to and go there. They are used to dealing with these cars and their fussy owners, of which I am one.
