extended warranty

Hi folks, I would like some kind advice. My C-class came with a factory warranty of 2 years but I am wondering whether or not I should purchase the extended warranty. It costs $5858 for a 2.5 years extension, or $3333 for a 1.5 year extension. If I reply by next week, I can get a 10% discount on either plan.

Normal maintenance costs $423 each time, every 6 months. I drive the car 1100 km per month (685 miles). Is it worth it for me to buy the extended warranty? If so, which one? I plan to keep the car for at least these 4.5 years. I heard repairs cost an arm and leg at the official dealership but also that the C-class is relatively reliable compared to other Mercs.

I appreciate any advice, thank you very much.

I opted not to get the extended and I have 106,000 miles with no problems. So, I feel I won the bet!

They don't think they offer a refund for the warranty extension over here.

Since when does any extended warranty pay for routine maintenance?

Are you sure yours are 18"? I was just checking the catalog and the 7-twin-spoke light-alloy rims that look exactly the same as yours are only available in 17".

They are these rims right?

I think they're 17".

Yeah new rims would be sweet of course but it's hard for me to justify spending so much on a part that's mostly for aesthetics with no real performance component.
