Mercedes counts the two coaxial tweeters in the rear woofers as another two speakers, for a total of 8. Do yourself a favor and replace them with Infinity Kappa 60.9 front and 6032si shallow mount coaxial rear, get double the volume. then add a Boss Bass600 subwoofer and get as good as Harman Kardon sound inexpensively.

That is what I am going to do. But how hard is it to add a subwoofer? I don't want a huge box in my trunk. To be honest. The sound from the stock speakers almost eliminate my need for a sub besides for the real lows.
Do you need to have an amplifier with a sub? Also, do you think I can get a small 8 or 10 inch and have it sit flush in Te left corner of my trunk where the mesh net is?

The Boss Audio Bass600 is truly compact 13.6 x 9.8 x 2.6 inches. The MB dealer installed it under the rear deck and takes up no room. Remote volume control under the steering column. On material with truly low bass (Pink Floyd Dar Side of the Moon first track) the bass is surprising. Recommend this placement better than where the mesh is.

Also, where do I connect the subwoofer to for power? Would I need to buy anything else besides the Bass600 like an amp (I think it says it has one built in). What is the volume remote used for? Can't I just set it and forget it and not worry about running anything to the front. I don't want it to look like I did anything aftermarket at all.

I have a Audio 20.
