The LEDs we carry are 2 staged units, meaning there is an ambient mode which you'd typically see in footwells, but they are not multi-staged to the point where it gradually dims. The associated cost for this setup would be much more expensive for LED type lighting.

Angry Help! Hid kit issues

Hello,

I just installed a Morimoto H7 HID kit + Canbus harness into my 2011 C300 and I am experiencing some DRL, eyelid led flicker and passenger side hid ignition delay.

I was under the impression that this kit was solid for W204's. Do I have a bad ballast, bulb or canbus harness?

Here is a video, Can anyone tell me what is going on?

The first attempt is with DRL's off in the dash option. The second attempt (00:55) is with DRL's on.

Got the same set up (HID's and all) you did for my 2010. My LED's last about a day or a little longer then burn out. My Xenon's work for the most of the time only a few times I had delayed light ups just like you do. Customer service is outstanding but I don't have much buy in for the LED's and if I lose a Xenon bulb I will feel the same way. Had all this installed lest than a month now.

Disclaimer : I got my HID kit from theretrofitsource.com not AZN. I am just asking advice via this forum.

My kit is a Miromoto (sp?) H7 as well. Same product. Mine works most of the time though. But when it does not its the right side just like yours and I cycle the key then it works.

Latest batch of Morimoto ballasts had a bad igniter. I'd talk to whomever you purchased the HID kit from to get a warranty. Morimoto is producing a new updated ballast with large Siemens igniters which should help with misfire issues that appear to be occurring in cold weather.

Well, I swapped canbus harnesses and ballasts (left with right) yesterday and everything seems to work fine now. I will continue to monitor it, but its working!

I'm also having issues with my HIDs. most days when I unlock the car only the drivers side HID fog will ignite and then after awhile the passenger side will come on. I've noticed some flickering/pulsing from the fogs lately. It gets fairly cold where I live, would the weather be to blame?

Weather is to blame for the misfire issue on the last batch of Morimoto units from what they've explained to us. They told me that typically only one side will exhibit issues on initial cold start, but as the vehicle quickly warms up, turning them off and on should ignite them properly. Morimoto has acknowledged this defect in the igniters so the new larger Siemens igniters should resolve this issue for those in colder climates.

I had the same issue. Morimoto is requesting that a photo of the ballasts with cut wires be submitted and they will send your vendor a replacement to send to you. I'm working with Mike from AZN who has done a great job working through the situation. My upgraded ballasts should be delivered in the next couple of weeks.

I spoke too soon, the issue is not fixed. Sent the bad can-bus harness and ballast back to retrofitsource.

So in order to receive new ballasts I have to make my current ones unusable?

Not sure what you mean by make them unusable. I bought my kit, one side is defective on arrival, so I sent it back for a replacement.

Yeah, that's Morimoto policy to cut pretty much all cords and submit picture with barcode. You'd have to revert back to oem for the time being. Depending on your vendor, you might be able to work out a deal with them though... for my trusted repeat customers, I'm spotting them in advance replacement parts from my inventory and back fill after with warranty pics to reduce downtime for them.

Unfortunately in this case with the faulty ballasts though, we don't have the updated ones in stock yet. We should by hopefully end of this week.

Sure, not a problem. Just shoot me an email. As mentioned though, I don't have the updated ballasts yet.

Waiting on them to fail again then I am going to decide if I want to cut my wires and wait for new part. Hooray.

We're scheduled to get those in mid January. There were some delays with CREE getting those components back in stock for our manufacturer.

W211 or W212?

edit: nevermind, I see in your profile you have a 2011. Yes, those will fit.
