Xpipe Installed, dissapointed....

So I went to my local well know exhaust shop and had them put an xpipe in. I could have gone Magna flow which they specialize in but he suggested for half the price I should have their universal Xpipe installed instead. He said they were basically the exact same thing, even made in the same warehouse but the only difference was it was branded magnaflow. I got my car back and it almost sounded exactly the same as stock. Can't even tell inside the car or outside. WTF!?!?!? Do they have a break in period or did I get screwed?

does the x-pipe look like the magnaflow true x-pipe, or was it an enclosed x-pipe?

I have the Magnaflow and the sound is almost unnoticeable from the interior. Have you had someone else drive the car and listen to it? You only really notice it when you are in the 3500k rev range and above.

You may have a high expectation for a less than a $100 mod

With normal idling there is not much of a difference in sound... Try revving it up to 3,500-4,000 rpm and you should hear the difference

Make sure they installed an x-pipe with a 2.25 inch diameter inlet/ outlet piping

rev it up to 3500 - 4500 RPM's and then you could hear and also cold starts. it should sound like this.

it ONLY happens when you drive and hitting past 3 to 3500k and if you really want a sound difference an xpipe and mufflers delete is a way to go unless you want to get eisenmann.. check out my channel youll see what im talking about

I've got the magnaflow x-pipe installed. Here is my video with a bunch of revs. If your's does not sound like this, and you want it to, get the x-pipe. It should be a HUGE difference IMO.

Give your car some time to readjust and try to reset your ecu.

I have the Magnaflow too and went to the same place as mwaldron to get mine done. I can definitely tell the difference when my windows are rolled down and when I get past 3000rpms.

Did you do the mod for performance or just the sound?

While I am new the the MBZ world, I do know exhaust is a fun mod but really doesn't give you anymore HP, just sounds good.

In the MBZ world, is an X pipe intended to be louder than stock?

Yea X pipe doesnt do much except a LITTTTLE growl...It was not enough for me so i went straight pipe with the X and it sounds beastly. I out a cold air intake too and when i down shift it has this turbo twine sound and its just too sick. I LOVE driving my car because I may not be in a 10 second car but it sounds like it haha
