It can be disabled by a STAR Diagnostic system. Your local MB dealership or an Independent MB shop who has the STAR system can do it for you.

Not sure if TPMS is mandated federal law - doubt it.
Dealer is not likely to do it for you because MB will get sued if anything happens re tire.
Need to go do an Indy shop.

The federal requirement, promulgated by NHTSA, is for the manufacturer of record to equip the vehicle in compliance with the applicable regulations. Manufacturers have a tire pressure inflation regulation they must follow (FMVSS 138). The dealer, as an agent of the manufacturer, may not take a vehicle out of compliance. An owner or other non-agent is not similarly bound.
The real puzzling question for me is, why this discussion? With the price of the car, insurance, and new wheels, the minor cost of new TPMS sensors cannot be the reason. So, for, at the lower end, minimizing the chances of an inconveniently-timed flat, or at the more critical, a blow-out at speed for an unrecognized loss of inflation, why not just add the sensors and stop trying to defeat the design intent of the car?
