they are the same size as the factory staggered AMG 18's if I'm not mistaken, just with a lower offset. What would happen if someone tried to run these? With a lower offset they'd just stick out a bit more, correct? About 5-10mm more than stock? so 1/4-1/2 inch?

Similar design with 44 offset (on the 17") can be found here. I bought them and the fit/quality are excellent.

Well I'd ideally like to swap my tires & TPMS from my AMG rims over on to those, that way I could avoid buying tires and I'd have to break down the factory rims to put on the pressure monitors anyway...

Plus mine is a sport, how does that differ from the 4matic in offset?

thx Jimmy, I'd be swapping over my factory 225's and 255's from my AMG rims. Seems to me like they'd fit, even if they stuck out an additional .25-.5 inches, no?

Per the technical info section in the owner's manual, the offsets are the same for rear wheel drive and 4MATIC.

For 17" wheels, 7.5" front, 8.5" rear, offset is 47 front, 58 rear
For 18" wheels, 8" front, 8.5" rear, offset is 50 front, 54 rear

I purchased the 17x8 wheels with 44 offset and they fit well, not sticking out at all. I have a separate thread on these wheels posted on this forum.

Cool, but again, my goal here is to switch my factory tires and TPMS into a different set of wheels. Can it be done with the 35 offset wheels?

The offset should not have any effect on swapping the TPMS or tires, as long as the rim width and diameter are compatible with the tire size.

Absolutely, I understand that, what I'm curious to, and worried about, is whether or not the same size wheels with the factory tires but a 35 offset would function properly and not rub or anything like that. Mine isn't dropped or anything...

I just looked at mine again with 17x8 ET44 wheels. I think you would need a test fit as mine now looks like a significant jounce would still allow the tire to be inside the wheel well, and I've never had any contact of the tire and fender. However, it does also seem that even a little more protrusion of the wheel/tire assembly would result in a similar amount of suspension travel impacting the underside of the wheel well opening.

Why not go for a higher offset with all the choices now out there?

If I could find those wheels in 18x8 and 18x8.5 with a 45 offset (or higher) I absolutely would! I've looked around a good bit, those wheels are very reasonably priced (around $600 shipped) and the factory tires & TPMS will fit them. Show me some simple AMG replica wheels that are 18x8 & 18x8.5 with a higher offset at a price that reasonable, and I'll order them right now!

Dr. Todd post me what you have on your car now, specific rim size and tire size and then give me what your trying to switch them to. If I read correctly your trying to use 225 on a 8 inch rim and 255 on a 8.5 rim? that will work but I would recomment going smaller on the rear, a 235 or a 245 tops. Your gonna have a really fat sidewall in the rear, wont be the same fit as the front in look. a 255 is for a 9 inch wheel or a 9.5. For example the ones I ran on the last car were Brabus 35mm offset F and R and my tire size was 8.5 x 18" wheel 225/40/18 and 9.5 x 18" 255/35/18. They had the same stretch on sidewall F and R and they cleared but couldnt drop, I ran sumitomo tires. I tried Nexen when I needed R tires and they slightly rubbed the fabric inside not the metal, only on bad bottom outs, so you need to run a skinny brand tire w my setup. If your going 8 and 8.5 you will clear 35mm offset NO PROB, but you will have a flush sidewall up front and Fat sidewalls out back, so maybe switch the front tires over and just get new rears so its half the $$. thats my recommendation.

If you're willing to opt for 19"s. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-ME...Q5fAccessories These should be good in terms of offset.

Jimmy- I have the factory 18" AMG wheels/tires, I thought they were 18x8 in the front and 18x8.5 in the rear, maybe it's actually 18x9 in the rear? They're wearing the factory 225's in the front and 255's in the rear. My goal would be to switch in to some AMG replica 5 star wheels without having to buy new tires. If the rears have a bit more sidewall to them (without it looking strange) I have no problem with it, as long as it functions properly and doesn't cause any issues such as rubbing. Otherwise I'm just going to plasti-dip the factory wheels, I'd just rather have the AMG-looking 5-star wheels.

I saw those and I like them, but I'd definitely need new tires, which adds about $600-1000 to the price, also 19's ride a bit harder and I love the stock ride quality!

Won't fit unless you stretch your tires with 235/30. That will expose your wheel lips though which will be proned to curb rashes a lot more.

If your not dropped u can run 255/30/19, if they are skinny brand. I ran 35 offset F and R and i used sumitomo HZR3's 225/35/19 F and 255/30/19 back. They are thin tires, if you want reg contis or such go 215/245. If your dropped forget about it, u will have to stretch like hell. Personally I didnt care for the ride w 35mm offset, I had feathering on my tires and it was a pain. I know theres tons of 35mm out there for reg benzez, but be aware of the issues, then make your decision
