So...I ordered a C250 with multimedia package and not sure what's going on. When I ordered the Multimedia, I saw that I would be getting 3D maps in the Navigation system (it was listed under code 512). I looked online to the dealer ordering guide a few days ago, I saw that the package options changed and there is another package called the COMAND launch package. Naturally, I wanted to see the differences between what I ordered (Multimedia) and what Mercedes added on to the package pricing a few weeks later. I saw that the only differences between the COMAND Launch package and the Multimedia Package were that there would be no rearview camera in the COMAND launch and the COMAND Launch package would have 3D maps under code 396. When I checked the options list for the multimedia Package, it looks as if Mercedes removed the 3D maps from the list. So, do I have 3D maps or not?

My order sheet has codes listed as: Multimedia Package: 218 (Rear View Camera), 396 (Voice Control), 512 (COMAND w/Navi and Voice Control)

The COMAND Launch Package has codes: 527 (COMAND system), 396 (Voice Control w/ 3D Maps)

According to the dealer website, the Multimedia Package components have codes: 218 (Rear View Camera) and 512 (COMAND with Navigation)

Please help

 

From what we have been told and see in the dealer ordering guide NTG 4.5 (same system debuting on the new SLK) will be on the '12 C, now, the truth may change and there may be a few units shipped with NTG 4, but it seems highly unlikely as the SLK is going through production and the system is being made. As the units get in we can play around with them and see what any differences really are, it could just be that they are using the old COMAND code.

 

Why aren't you asking these questions at your dealer? Not the salesman but the new car sales manager. This has to be straightened out before the date the specs become firm and unchangeable.

 

I just went through Netstar and it looks like they will be the same system, just that the launch cars will not have the camera available, provided you have option code 320 on your car it will have the new nav + camera, if it has S32 it will have the launch COMAND pkg with no camera.

 

If I was you I would get the HK audio. I will never buy another benz without it. its only 850 and worth thousands to replicate

 

Thanks so much Dcubed. I assume, then, that I will get 3D maps. Jimmy, I would get the HK system, but drove an ML (as a loaner) for over a week and found barely a difference (but then again, my ears aren't too sensitive ). I also tried asking the Sales manager, but he said he doesn't know. I would have to ask the sales guy.

 

New stuff is on netstar as of this morning...ill get through it and report back in a little bit.

 

Alright...went through all the "special value" packages on netstar, looks like all July production will have COMAND nav.

No Backup camera is available and the CD changer is not available for ordering. Audio 20 and MM Pkg (320) are not available for ordering at this time, any orders will more than likely be pushed back once current part supplies at the factory are exhausted. Good news is that the option is showing at a little under $1k.

 

Thanks for the info with the money I'm saving, I tried ordering iPod media interface, but the dealer says it's not available as a stand alone option anymore. Dcubed, can you do me one more favor and verify this? Thanks so much

 

The MM package comes with the ipod interface in glove box, its just like the E class in 2012. whatever packages come with the current E will probably carry over to Cs, thats what my friend at dealer says anyway, hes pretty reliable

 

Does this mean we'll get an update for the terrible operating system that is currently being used in the COMMAND systems? I have a 2011 C 300

 

More than likely not, the 2012 C will be NTG 4.5, where the 08-11s are NTG 4

 

Hmm can you explain this in detail? What is NTG4/4.5? Hardware or current operating system?

 

NTG 4 is what we currently have in the W204, W212, A207, S212, and C207, NTG 4.5 will debut in the new SLK and in the facelift C, the new CLS will be using NTG 4. NTG 4.5 will have 3d maps, larger HD w a bigger music register, it will also have Sirius travel link, and a faster OS, I have played with it on a new SLK in training and its a great system but not worth upgrading a car earlier than planned.
