iPod integration kit 204-870-44-96
Does anyone have a website that would be a good place to buy the part 204-870-44-96. also, seen some stuff about needing an amp, is this necessary? Thanks for any help.
Ive got a 2009 C300 and it has the basic media set up.

Although I am not sure this is correct for your W204. In any case you WILL need the GERMAN manufactured (Not Chinese) iPod Amp part No. A204-870-39-94.

thanks for the replies. I have been really frustrated in searching for this part online. I got the info from my MB dealer in town and it was bc they quoted me at like $850 to install this with their labor. I just want to buy the correct part and have best buy or somewhere install it for way less but Im worried about buying one of these ebay parts due to most have a no return policy

my dealer told me like 650 or something including labour...
ask your dealer what the appropriate part number is for the kit for YOUR car, as if they were to order it for you.
take that part number and match it up with online.
best advice i can offer you.

It is important to get exactly the correct part number. Here is a PDF with another series of part numbers that don't correspond to the series part you mention. Also there is yet another series for early W204's, and some built in 2007 cannot receive the iPod integration kit for lack of the necessary electronics between the headunit, steering wheel and the speedo display, etc.
Although, frankly, having uploaded thousands of tunes into the iPod and having them all at the disposal on the speedo:
1.- Perhaps the unit of choice is the UMI. If you own rather than lease the vehicle, this is the better unit as the UMI provides more input options for future technologies (USB-based), and controls are through the media knob and dash display instead of the Speedo.
2.- On my latest long trips, in Mexico more like a road-rally due to poor or absent road signs, pot holes, speed reductors (which are neither painted nor warned and are taller than the floorpan of the C Sport), or no road surface at all, I have resorted to just choosing a Genre and Shuffle. Actually get to listen to more of my 5,000+ tune collection and am constantly surprised to hear some music I haven't heard in a LONG time (don't ask how long, though).
Perhaps an intelligently-selected Playlist would fill most needs, as I find the music selection method through the steering wheel and the speedo display difficult, time consuming and distracting from concentrating on driving; e.g. it's just downright DANGEROUS.
