Tail Light Overlays - I need your opinions!

I was looking for some tint overlays for the tail lights of my W204 when I ran across this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3AMESELX%3AIT

I kind of like the look of it compared to a tint but I am not sure. Something about it is just not letting me pull the trigger. The seller is a 30 minute drive from me so I can go see it in person but I am trying to get some general opinions from here before I make the drive

Thanks in advance!

I wonder how a white overlay would look on a white car....

They make em for our car, headlights, etc. I'm probably going to a shop by me to have my headlights, mirrors and tails done, and maybe some vinyl wrapping =]

I personally don't like those. You are better off having a shop spray them, or wrap them.

there are people on here running those. it looks OK, but I think it might look much better if you coupled it with a trim like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/110695999857 and painted them to match your car.

My $0.02 is that it's fine, but I think anybody who tints their brake lights is a fool. If you really wanna do something to your tails, that seems a good option because at least it doesn't touch the brake lights.

I've said it before but I'll say it again: It's not like Mercedes just threw any old bulb into those brake lights. They're made as bright as they are for a reason. Dimming them is begging to be rear-ended and is really doing a disservice to the people that will be behind you. All in the name of cosmetics.

I got a set of LED tails, which are much brighter and more visible than stock, then I spray tinted them a bit, now they're right about as bright as the factory incandescent tails so it's a wash, and they look waaaaaaay nicer.

If you measured the lumens then you did it the right way. I think you're the exception though among people -- on here and in general -- that tint their tail lights.

As for the look, it's of course a preferecne thing. Tinted tails just doesn't do anything for me. I suppose stuff like that, to me, makes a Mercedes more pedestrian. But at least you didn't do it on the back of safety like everybody else here that I've ever seen posting about tinted tails.

I agree it's a preference thing. I really prefer tails that look clean and not ricey that are LED and have a clear or black housing and not so much red. The tails on the C stick out like a sore red thumb (in my humble opinion). Hoping that my tinted ones look cleaner.

I dont like the look of the trim at all and I prefer full blackout to the tint look

I agree with you as far as tinting your brakes goes. Its not my cup of tea.

I may go ahead and pull the trigger on a set in white. I will probably drive down and pick it up from the seller and put it on there. Anyone wanna order a set in black so I can get a comparison?

I'll have pics up later on tomorrow, assuming I pick em up in the morning.

Heres an update for yall

I decided to pull the trigger and purchased a set from the seller. He was local to me so I went by and picked up a set.

Seller was a nice guy, even installed them for me. Funny how we had the same name too (not so unheard of in my neighborhood)

They really grew on me and I love the look of them. Vinyl is nice quality.

Ill have some pics up after I get a carwash

My new tails and side marker

Hey C-class owners, i know there's been alot of controversy on whether or not to use an overlay film. Just look at my pics of the work that was done at this shop near my house in Gaithersburg, MD the guys who work at "Cutting Edge Tint, Inc" are the best i've encountered so far near where i live and the total job only cost me $90 for the two rears and $30 for the side markers. I am thinking on getting the side mirror markers tinted as well. Will keep posted if i do that job, the best part was the tech guy over there let me in the shop to see if i wanted that look before finishing.

I can tell you another shop wanted $150 just for the rears only...

Yes, they can do that also i was thinking on doing that but really after i saw that the blinkers dont get completely washed out i decided to just leave it that way. Also i have the darkest tint on the tails in the sunlight its hardly noticeable, you can request them lighter if you go to that shop in Gaithersburg. Where is gurgle in relation to Baltimore or DC?
