That Acura RSX that passed you sure ate some dirt... That Mazda was pretty close in hitting you when it lost control and made a 360 degree turn

Wow. That's exactly why passing is only allowed on the frnot and back straights here at Portland Intl Raceway. HPDE days means a chance for too many to fool themselves into thinking they are Schuey and can late brake people into a turn. I'd never attend a session where all out passing or passing in the turns was allowed.

Awesome...what top speed did you hit on the straights? Why not use the manual shift mode to get into it a little more? Love the 2 dopes losing control trying to smoke you through the corners...hilarious...

Top speed was around 90ish and the front 2 tires for those stock 17's michelins were partially melted near the sidewall...should be able to do better with more track friendly tires so no, i didn't check my track time this time...

Nice driving.

If you are going to make a habit of it, get some track wheels/tires ... huge difference. I used Kuhmo victoracers (rx7) and put race pads on front, and race wheels the nite before, then drove 120 miles to track. Only caught some rain once, no fun sliding off the crown in the road at 40 mph, vs 65 mph limit.

Also, was the torque converter mostly locked up? ie rpms were always proportional to speed, like a manual? This is the case for normal driving.

Headrest mount is the cheapest and easiest setup there is. $10 in parts from Home Depot (assuming you already have a tripod from which to use the head).
Nice surprise for me... the Germans standardized the distance between the headrest posts. I made this mount for my old Passat and low'n'behold, it fits perfectly in the Benz!

i did the cam mounting at 2 different places, one was at the rear right corner of the sunroof and on the windshield. I used the gopro cam and just bought the suction cup mount, similar to the portable GPS so mounting was quick and easy..

willow springs raceway map

Still would like to know how crisp the ATX worked on the track. With normal to brisk driving, our atx has converter lock in all 7 gears. It's like a manual trans with electronic shifting (Audi DSG BMW SMG), but smoother.

Just make sure tires aren't old ( hard tread with fingernail "push" test, brake pads are 1/2 or more, fresh motor oil. At Summit Point Raceway track inspection, they make sure battery and all under the hood is secure. They watch under hood as you rev engine, and they press brake pedal.

Where is Richland and what track is near it ?
