Hi All
New here and I am thinking of getting the C250 CDI, maybe closer to the end of the year. It is certainly a very nice looking car.
How does it drive on an open road? Never own a Merc before.
I do a fair bit of mixed twisty country driving mixed with highway.

I'd say test drive it and see how it goes. Depends what you're used to and what you want.

Hey Congrats. By the way turn on the speed assist and if there is a traffic sign with speed you will see the instrument cluster will show it as well. Love this feature. I dont know if it will work in Australia.
I got mine last week

It feels surprisingly stable- it's not as sharp/harsh as the Evo obviously but it doesn't roll much and still inspires you with confidence. I have standard Avantgarde seats (not sports/buckets) and you can move around a bit if you corner aggressively.

I am considering the AMG pack, but wondering if it will be too harsh for my just pregnant wife and later the baby. In fact, they're the reasons why I am switching from my STi modified Subaru Liberty (Legacy) GT to Merc. Subaru is safe but I think Merc is safer.
I like the AMG look and wheels and given we drive a fair bit of twisty country roads at 80-100km (legal) speeds, perhaps the lower suspension provides added stability?

@Nightsky: You should take both the Luxury and the Sport for a drive. Purchased a C300 Sport after driving the C300 Luxury. Found the Sport suspension just too stiff for my liking. Plus the thousands of speed reducers, many are taller than the Sport lowered suspension, lots of scrapes on the undercarriage. Seats are totally different also.
Many have purchased the Luxury with black trim interior, then got their MB dealer to order and install a Sport grill. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me. Cost was around $700 US dollars for the grill substitution I understand.

As for the AMG pack, isn't all cosmetic if you are getting it added on to the Avantgarde trim line as there's no suspension tweaks? Not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure it won't improve performance (if at all) or make it much different to the normal one if it's being optioned on a C200/C250.
On another note, I don't think I see many ELEGANCE models nowadays... a lot of the options/etc are only available if you buy the Avantgarde.

JaCe88: Do you have access to the 250CDI torque curve ... MB info? How about rated MPG or L/Km ?
I think the E class was the only recent model in the US to offer a brute of a turboDiesel-6cyl. 0-60mph in 6+ secs !

Actually, according to the MB Australia website, here are the available options, although some may not be available on all vehicle models.
http://www2.mercedes-benz.com.au/con...equipment.html
VERY IMPRESSIVE LIST, there are NO options in the W204 in Mexico, all come with the Euro2 Package and NO HK Logic 7 system is available. (!!!)

For those who dont want the AMG package but better seats, take the multicontour seat option if available.
Its one of the best options i choose comparing to the bad seats i had in my previous.

I'm under the impression NightSky is from Australia where we have different options packages to the US- i.e. we don't have the whole Luxury vs. Sport. The closest we have are the Avantgarde vs. Elegance packs which determine whether you have the big grille/slightly sportier seats/look/ride or the old school badge sticking up and bright brown woodgrain interior with a comfier suspension. Truth be told I don't think the Avantgarde is going to cause much harm but I'm not a doctor- it'll still be significantly more comfy than the Subie.

I believe the AMG pack lowers the suspension by 1.5cm and is firmer than Avantgarde. The front breaks are drilled and steering is speed sensitive.Sports seats but the engine is exactly the same. I am wondering if all those mean better cornering but significantly hard ride and scratched underbody.
Going to organise test drive both standard Avantgarde and AMG pack next time I am in Sydney and will certainly post my experience.
BTW, is the multicolour seat differently shaped than standards?

EDIT: Here it is! http://www.mechanics.iei.liu.se/edu_ug/tmme11/lab1.pdf
Mine is 0-100km/h in 7seconds... which isn't that fast, but the 500Nm of torque gives it pulling power when overtaking in traffic at least.
Thanks! The options list isn't too bad although I do note that a few of the options available in UK/USA aren't necessarily available here (e.g. the speed limit assist), and some are only available in packs (e.g. the passenger exterior mirror dipping on reverse).
Hi! yes, I do live in Australia, in country NSW about 3 hrs from Sydney, which isn't that "far" in Australia. I am actually a country doctor myself and believe that seats/suspension setting causes no harm to the pregnant (unless you do rally style driving) but rather concerning comfort issues.
