Transmission software upgrade,WOW!
Car went into the dealer's today for a Service(A) and I had complained about hesitation when upshifting gear's(Auto box)I was given a crap loaner whilst waiting for the car to be serviced and recieved a call from one of the technicians working on the car saying there was a software upgrade which would eliminate the hesitation I was suffering from and it would cost me £57 to get it done on top of the service charge, well what can I say the car fly's now super quick gear shift's and doubled up with the Brabus power upgrade I have i'm loving it!

Transmission software upgrade
Hey Sanjit, I have the same engine and I guess the same (not so good) 5 speed auto trans as you. I've had the hesitation from new and the dealer always says that they're "all like it" !!! Do you have any details on what the software update is called / dated so I can talk to the dealer (Lookers of Redhill) about it? Thanks for your reply.

Hello, yes bro the dealer i'm using is Mercedes Benz of Huddersfield, service advisor was Karen Kellett and the technician that worked on the car was Bartosz Zrodlowski,W.Yorkshire, give em a call on 01484 455500.Let me know how you get on,you might be quite far away from me to make it worthwhile(suppose you may get the ref no for the software update via phone),I can't understand how another dealer can say that there is'nt a problem when there clearly is or why would it need a software update to sort it?

I got my 2008 W204 C220 CDI Transmission and Engine ECU's updated this morning, I don't think they had ever been updated. On the motorway, got it up to 50mpg travelling at 70mph on the cruise control over 26 miles, which is a first for me and it didn't seem as sluggish taking off at junctions.
My average around where I live is 36mpg, so i'll know more after a week or so if the economy is better.

I'm guessing your out of warranty, which is why they charged you for the upgrade.
On a side note. I think that these seats are VERY prone to creaking. In almost every w204 I have been in (my 2 and many loaners) almost all the seats squeak like the springs are bad. It is very embarrassing and non-luxury, sounds like I'm driving a 15 year old hoopty.
Each time I complain they "lube the springs" and the problem gets better (not as noticeable) but it still persists and maybe a month later the problem is back at full-blown. Does anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this?
Also, a similar issue is with my sun-roof. After the car is left in heat or sunlight, the sunroof would make a terrible noise when opening it (especially tilting) they would lubricate the tracks and it wouldn't sound nearly as bad, but it still makes a sound. Any permanent fix for this either?
