Transfer case leak - 2010 C300 sport 4matic

So I bought a CPO 2010 C300 sport 4matic with 19k miles on Saturday. On Sunday morning, smoke started coming out from under the hood and I called roadside assistance and had it towed to the dealer. It took them until today to diagnose and repair a transfer case leak. How concerned should I be? Is this just bad luck and everything should be fine, or is this an indication that I have a lemon and need to bail on this car immediately?

Not a brilliant start but if you have a good warranty why not see how it all pans out.

Hopefully now you can relax & enjoy your new car.

An oil leak is not a big deal so long it has been fixed correctly. Was it a seal ?

I had my auto gearbox rear seal replaced & have had no further problems .

If you have 2-3 years original warranty left, why would you sell it immediately?

Let them fix it and forget about it. And the car would not qualify anywhere under any lemon law. Yet.

I've got warranties out for 6 or 7 years on this thing. It's just a hassle getting to the dealer and I don't want to have to worry about it as I previously had a 2003 Camry that was NEVER in the shop for an unscheduled visit. I appreciate the responses and will give it a shot, it's just that the google searches seemed to indicate that a transfer case leak is the beginning of the end (at least with the pre-2008 C classes). I don't have any details about whether it was a seal or not. The communication was very poor and I had to rely on the original sales consultant to let me know if my car was ready due to service advisers not returning calls. Love the car and am crossing fingers that things will be OK.

RLE, yes, agreed, I did the research and determined that used cars do not qualify for lemon laws in my state and a single incident would not qualify even if it were new. As the sales guy said, it is a machine and things happen. Just horrible timing...

Moving from a 2003 Camry to a new Mercedes is a huge change in culture if nothing else. And you are going to learn to treat the car in a different way. No more jamming it into a too-narrow parking spot to avoid walking a bit. An MB is actually worth taking care of instead of a monthly visit to a car wash.

You'll see.....

Dude, don't even sweat it. Those CPO warranties are excellent everything should be covered no problem. You can also get a 1 or 2 year extension and if you want I can give you a quote so you know what prices are reasonable(pm me).
