Do you mean the black plastic strip ? One of mine had very rough edges & was replaced under warranty.

yea seems like it's a fairly common deal must be cheap parts..

but it's a strip in between the roof and the top of the door if you car is black it's black but i have no idea what color it is on other colored cars... but it has 4 caps on each corner to i guess remove the moulding but on mine it's pealing in the areas around the caps.. it's cracking like if you was to buy a cheap ebay spoiler and see what the paint looks like after a couple years..

Is it the black drip strip where the roof rack mounts? Mine was replaced under warranty too. It appears to have a plastic coating they began to peal. It also seems to be a well known problem at the dealership.

yep the exact same ones.. seems like it's made from very cheap paint and clearcoat on that piece like it's manufactured else where..

how do they get a recall for this?? cause i would definitely not want the dealship to replace that piece with the same part... that piece is garbage..

I know this is late, but I've been having the exact same problem with the trim on my 08 C300. Did the dealership replace under warranty? Dealer in Savannah, GA asked me if I was the original owner; when I said no, he told me that the trim must have been repainted, and that my warranty wouldn't cover it. From reading these posts it looks like he was full of sh*t. Anyone else have problems getting it replaced under warranty?

Please let us know if these cars are German or SA build. I'm interested.

My car was SA built and it already had the strips repl by the prev owner, I had the same issue on a newer set, and we just had them painted black and then put back on with thick clear, I mounted a roof rack on them since, no issues

Mine was a German build. It appears to be a defective part. The clear was almost like paint protection film that began to lift around the edges. If you start to pull- it will actually come off.

OK - sounds like a European made part then.

South African built, clear coat is frail and able to be peeled off. The paint underneath is rough to the touch

If it's common across plants it's coming from a central supplier.
