Just did the rear view camera install..

Super easy! My command had a green fakra already attached to the command, but I found out what it was...

Also, removing the vents were bad! But I found an easy way to do it if anyone wants to know just ask.

No, it doesn't come pre-wired. Do you have the multimedia ipod package? If so, then your command may already have the green fakra video cable attached ..but that is not for the rear view camera. It's for the iPod video aux. you gotta remove it and use your own fakra to RCA cable.

Is there a way you can connect both? If I can recall it the fully loaded ones have both cam and iPod to work. If someone have one that comes with both can take the HU out to see how it connected that would be great. I remembering seeing one HU that 2012-2013 there's a two fakra slots. I will taking mines apart in a few more days to do the install and see. Oooo the one That I saw was on this site but I forgot. He had both to work can and iPod. He took a picture of the HU and it have two fakra next to eachother.

There's another thread where it was mentioned that you need the NTG4.5 COMAND in order to have two FAKRA inputs. The older version I guess only had one. IIR, In the manual it says that if you have the backup camera, you cannot use the multimedia input for video so that seems to indicate at some point there was only one aux video in. You can tell if you have the newer COMAND HU if it has an SD slot, or go to the engineering menu to see the version.

I have an 08 and I am not understanding what happens to the "green" plug that is already plugged in the HU from factory. I read that it goes to the Aux in the glove box but not really sure where... Just to clarify, I can still use my Phone or Ipod using the 3.5mm wire correct ?

Also, Will this Fakra wire work ?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RCA-female-to-Fakra-E-female-in-green-pigtail-cable-RG174-at-10-15-20-30cm-/330856972774?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Coaxial_Cables_Connectors&hash=item4d089cc1e6

Thank you for the help!!

IMO its better to see part of the bumper when looking at the display, this way you get a much better depth view.

Has anyone tried this type of camera?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Benz-E-class-W212-C-Class-W204-CMOS-NTSC-Car-Backup-Reverse-Rear-View-Camera-/390659693250?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5af521dac2&vxp=mtr

If so, is there a difference it the output of the light. I mean is one side dim compared to the other.

Thanks in advance.

That is the one I am currently using right now. I had another one but was really visible. This one is hidden, replaces one of your license plate light but you are still able to put your bulb in it.. Light is not as strong as the other side but still there.. The view on the screen is pretty good and you can see a little bit of the bumper which really makes it easier parking if you're trying to get close to something..

Hi there everyone, new to the forum, finally got around to doing this rear camera install, seemed pretty straight forward but I can't get the camera image to appear on the comand monitor, I tested the camera on my tv's aux video port and the image is great, not sure if it's a coding issue or another cause. Any help would be great, thanks

I think you need to have the Video Aux set to OFF, let me know if that worked.

I'm installing mine next week.

Do I also have to use fuse 71 to wire backup camera on a B-class (W245)?

We offer the ones that Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, VW, and Lambo use at the factory. Not cheap, but not one has ever failed. Even if you don't buy one of ours, buy a good CCD with low lux, wide angle, glass lens.... you won't be disappointed a few months down the road.
hello there.. Please send me the link where I can purchase the CCD camera with the glass. The one used in Mercedes Benz. I have a 2012 GLK and have the option in the engineering menu to switch to rear view camera on R. Also if you have professional installers in NJ area so I can have it professionally installed.
PM me if you want with the info ..
thanks
