I have been researching oil extractors and there are many on the market. I have my eye on the Mityvac 7300, which requires the air compressor for suction. Some are hand pumped. Also, I do not understand the volume given on each unit, 2, 4 6L. I would assume if you get the less volume, you would just need to empty it out more often. What is your experience on these?

A cheaper solution to the oil extractor I tried was just using an aquarium siphon. They sell the ones with the hand pump to create the siphon and just let it do it's thing. I also zip tied a plastic stick to the end of the hose so I could navigate and suck out the debris at the bottom.

Took all of about 10 min to finish.

Thanks tehc300 for your comments, however, I am not looking for the cheapest model, and what I like about the MityVac 7300 is that also can be used as a brake bleeder, because my E 430 is in dire need of a brake flush. Does the volume mean anything?

I've used Pela for years. Simple device. Even comes w/ a spout attachment to transfer the oil to milk jugs for recycling.

I have the 7201 which is a manual pump model. It works great. I would recommend getting one that has enough capacity to completely drain the oil pan. The 7201 will hold all the oil so I don't have to stop. The 7201 can also bleed the brakes. The first time I took my Mityvac to Autozone to recylce the old oil, they looked at me like I was nuts for bringing in a contraption like that.

The volume for each unit refers to the size of the tank. Ideally, specially for a larger compressor operated unit, I'd look for one with a tank large enough for the most fluid removal I'd do -AT flush, in my case-.

As for the units, I'd go to a Marine Shop, since most small buckets need to have the motor oil pumped out for replacement, instead of draining by gravity, and some require a comparatively large volumen.

I have been using my Topsider for about ten years now. it's a marine item from West Marine, a national chain of marine stores. Using a vacuum pump on the tank, it sucks out all the oil in about 15 minutes. I then dump it into a five gallon plastic container from Home Depot which I haul off to the recycle place when it's finally full. Paid about $50 for it. It comes apart and stores in it's original box.

I am also happy with the Mytivac, I have the 8L model that reverses so you can pump the oil out. It's manual and empties the sump in a few short minutes.

I got mine on amazon for around 60 bucks. I actually had to order a replacement of my first one because the first extractor got crushed from too much pressure. So, My recommendation is not to put too much pressure on it.

Just changed the oil at 5K miles on my C300 4matic.With the additional oil dip stick aluminum tube adapter the 7300 extracted 8 liters of warm oil in less than 5 minutes.Very impressive.Having the oil cap and filter off speeded up the process.Used the Mann filter with Mobil 0W40 oil.

+1 for the MityVac 7201. I've only used it once and though it took a while to finish, it was my own mistakes and not a shortcoming of the unit.

Whatever you do, get one that has a capacity where you don't have to empty it mid-process. It just adds to the hassle. The 7201, with 8.8 liter capacity (= 9.3 quarts) is sufficient to hold the 8.5 quarts or so needed for a W204.
