Homelink Mirror Install in non-P1 w204

I bought the Homelink mirror on e-bay for $150.00. My car DID NOT have the option installed from the factory. The 2 cables and connectors are identical to the stock mirror set-up. It is plug and play with no programming from the dealer. The compass, garage door opener and map lights work perfectly. I'm not sure that the auto-dimming feature is functional as the test seemed to be a failure. If anyone has some advice on that great. Thanks for the heklp BNAM and others.

Cool, I have the garage door open, but the 08 didn't have the compass, now I know I can get it!

the question is... has anyone successfully added a compass to a 2008?????

This whole thread and update was not put here for your pleasure rb, it was merely informational. The update was just that and has nothing to do with his question. My stock 2010 mirror had no compass, homelink or dimming, the new one has all that and all works properly on a 2010.

You want to rudely make a point about something, if a compass can be added to a 2008, sure it can. You would have to replace the entire mirror as the compass is an internal part of the mirror and displays in the right side when you push a button. Geez. It's an old thread anyway there mr. observant.
