2008 Automatic Trans Fluid change interval differences

Just to let you Yanks know how well off you are with your $5 a quart price. Here, I was quoted $18.75 per litre ( quart) for Fuchs. It would be cheaper to pay the $150 freight for the 12 quarts @ 5 bucks each in the US than buy it here.
Mobil & Shell do not distribute this AFT here.
722.6 5 speed recommendation here is still 60,000Km but mandated 236.14 fluid.
It appears the ATM service interval is dependant on the type of engine. Higher loads ?

I see you guys are on the "change once" programme. I thought that was only USA. I think I will stick to the "change every" 60,000 Km. I suggest you do the same as you intend to keep the car for a long time. 50K/60K take your pick. If you intend to change & not flush then every 50K is probably a good thing as you have no TC drain plug I seem to remember.
DIY servicing is not that difficult & the latest Shell 236.14 approved fluid is just over 5 bucks a quart.
If you want to get pissed then aim that at ripp-off stealers & MBUSA being dumb with their BS filled for life claim.

Here is Johnand's excellent thread on 722.9 maintenance. Heed all warnings on sump/pan bolt replacement - new pan & level tube replacement for older transmissions etc.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
1] pull the pan - measure how much fluid in the pan
2\change the filter
2\clean the pan
3\refill with same amount of fluid back into the pan
4\mount pan with new gasket
The above procedure is not very costly and can be done more often.
I'm aware that this will not change all the trans fluid.I'm just worried that there is so much fluid in the pan that the fluid goes over the top of the pan and it will start leaking as soon as I loosen the bolts.
{ don't want to use the drain bolt }
Anybody already do the trans fluid change and can tell me how much fluid sits in the pan ?

Getting level correct on the 722.9 is not that difficult.
