Window Tint/Paint Protection Film

So I'm looking to tint my windows and put a protection film on my car. The place that does them is a Professional Tinting Specialist. Now because of that, they charge $300 to tint all of the windows except the front.
Now I'm sure everyone agrees that it is too expensive for tints but I did get my last car done there and they have 20 years experience just doing tints...so would you pay for that peace of mind? On the flip side, I have a guy who does them for $150 at a local audio shop but obviously they are not a specialist...

My other question is, does anyone have any experience putting or getting that protection film on the car? Is it expensive? worth it? Any info would be appreciated.

Oh here is the website to the Specialist http://www.lorenzotintny.com/

I paid $250 on my CLS for both sides and rear window. The guy is a pro and does tons of high end cars. $300 seems high to me. But, I don't know the going rates in your neck o' the woods.

I paid 300 for mine in Florida, but we were using a top grade film, and the guy was pulling the old tint off. The old tint had liner felt caught in it, and the film was terrible; good darkness, but no heat rejection at all. It's your car, but I believe you get what you pay for.

I'm probably going to check out the place called Sam's Window Tinting http://www.samswindowtinting.com
Its either them or Lorenzo's...
Do they take the door panels off to tint these cars?

Count me in the "you get what you pay for" camp. I paid, IIRC, $275 for mine, also in Florida, and for the Wincos tint.

The film itself has a bit of a blue hue from the inside-out, but the heat rejection is superb (92% i believe is whats advertised). And the installation was everything I could ask for. I felt like they took care of my car. Also, they installed a thick (clear) protective film on my fog lights at no extra charge.

Definitely protect your fogs if you haven't already. They're prone to breakage, especially if you use them (my theory is the heat makes the glass more brittle). That's a $300 bill to replace.

My 2 cents........If you do tint....go with a CERAMIC tint.....the common tint contains metal which will affect your GPS and SAT Radio.

I paid the extra ($325) to have the ceramic and Im very happy with it!

I just got mine done. I opted for 3M Carbon film instead of the ceramic. I paid 215 for all but the front in SC. I would rather go to a good shop any day rather than have a hack work on my Benz. Good luck.

What % is that tint?

P.S. Im sure you werent referring to me when you implied that someone would go to a "Hack" to have the job done. I had mine done in Wilmington NC at the best and well established shop in town.

I got the Formula One Pinnacle Series at 35%
