C300 Sport LOADED
BRAKES HELP!!! All mechanics, and other's help needed.
I have 2009 C300 Sport with p2(non-4matic).
I just had service B done on my car and they said I need to change the Rear brake pads on my car.
Here the Question.
1. Is the OEM front and rear brake SEMI-METALLIC or CERAMIC?
2. If those are semi-metallic, Is it ok to use different brand brakes front and back?(possibly Posi-Quiet semi metallic for rear?) I don't think Posi-quiet have brakes for our front..
3. Is it better to just purchase he OEM from dealer parts department and install it elsewhere for cheaper labor?
I called 2 mercedes part service, one place said they are semi-metallic, nd one place said he is not sure because it doesn't say on part name(but he thinks its Not ceramic becuase of price??)
I called couple aftermarket place and they say the OEM are ceramic and Posi-quiet semi-metallic is not available for front. Two of three places recommended Semi-Metallic and one place recommended ceramic.
I need help. I want to change the brake pads but without killing my wallet.
The most important question is 1 and 2.
please answer it and i appreciate your help.

Can't answer diectly ... I will say that the rear pad "mix" was changed in late 08, by secretive TSB, to stop excessive nasty black dusting.
You really want similar functional pads F&R that heat up at same rate and grab the same time, to maintain oem balance. Porterfield R4$'s come to mind. If you go HPDE races, other rules apply.
