AUX Input AUDIO HISS Problem - Can anybody tell me if this is normal on your car?
I rarely use the Aux input in the glove box, but switched to it yesterday while checking my sound system function before my warranty is up next month and noticed that while nothing is connected to it and the volume is at a reasonable level, there is a noticeable hiss that comes through the speakers, making it sound like there is interference in the line...
The louder you turn up the volume, the louder the feedback/hiss noise is... Especially when activating the audio boost function...
I opened the glove box and made sure nothing was plugged into the jack to verify that it wasn't the fault of a half way plugged in audio cable or something...
Short of me going into 3-4 other w204 vehicles and seeing if they have the same issue, can you guys help me out real quick and let me know if your cars do the same thing when there is no cable plugged in and you simply select the empty AUX input?
I would expect that this wouldn't happen when there is nothing plugged in and I should hear nothing but silence until I plug in an Ipod or something and press play... But instead I get the audio feedback hiss noise...
Is this normal?
Thanks in advance for any comments provided to calm my pre-warranty expiration OCD.

with nothing plugged in, that should not be normal.
I had a hiss when something was plugged into the AUX of my w203, but I ended up using this to get rid of it: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_127SNI1...r.html?tp=2653

No hiss noise coming from mine. I do get the engine whine, which the dealer claims that they had never had anyone mention it before. It does it with both my Classic 30Gig iPod and my iPhone 4.
