Hi,
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.
After read all post perhaps my car has an audio20 + Becker navigation system not a command system so the eng. menu is as I posted :
Without camera activation.
I think you are the same...

I'm stopping by the dealership this weekend, i'm going to check with the tech to see what is required to install/enable the backup camera (if possible). If there is any news i'll keep you updated. Thanks for the reply!

You need COMAND with the bigger screen to have the backup camera input.

If your car comes with a 5" screen instead of the 7", you have a system called Audio20 instead of a command unit NTG. In such case, there will be no way to install backup camera to it because there is no video input. One way to fix it is to upgrade to command head unit + 7" screen. Cost is about $750 for HU and screen. You will also need to install cooling hardware which UK ppl sell for another $300. You will also need to pay couple hundred bucks to activate the GPS and another couple hundred bucks to reprogram the computer to recognize the new HU. Total is around $2000.

Picked up a w204 C250 CDi 2012 avant-garde sedan in black for the wife.

Such a good car ...!

Would have thought a reversing camera was standard ... but no.

So I bought this kit off Ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/282243863168

Hooked it all up in the boot, got the black screen after turning the camera on and doing the required settings, but now wondering where the camera plugs in?

Anyone done this?

Did you switch on backup camera option in the engineering manual?

So that is AV1 and AV2?

Can I pull the FAKRA plug apart and just insert it into the green plug with the pink around it?

Cheers,

Matt

Pink is the video plug. You should be able to take the cover off the Fakra cable and fit it into the OEM dual cover.

Missing menu items?

Thanks for all the info folks. I am new to this forum and I have just bought a 2012 Mercedes Benz E220 Station Wagon with the Avantgarde trim level, W212. It does have a Comand unit and I can get to the Engineering menus. Looking at other threads, it looks likely that I have NTG4.5 V2 software. The rear of the unit has the Fakra socket to plug in a reversing camera but I cannot locate any reference to a reversing camera anywhere on any of the menus.

I wonder if anybody could offer advice? My problem is that the option to enable a reversing camera simply does not appear on any of the engineering menus or on the video menu. As I say, the car does have Comand system with a 7 inch LCD screen but when I go to item 7 on the eng menu and scroll down, there is no mention of any reversing camera. AS I recall, item 7.11 refers to spread spectrum.

Has anybody else come across this problem? Is there any advice on offer?

Do I need to get a firmware upgrade or is the answer easier than that?

Many thanks,

Mike

Had to disassemble both the green media int and rev cam connectors to double up in one of them. Power is confirmed at the camera end. However, am unable to get the camera enabled using the comand engineering menu. Have found the correct page and entry area which offers the choice of 4 different camera options, none of which works. The mb wis says the camera needs to be coded using star system (canbus I presume) I am fast coming to the conclusion that a trip to the dealer and the loss of mega bucks will be required to make this work unless anyone here knows better?
Yes it will need SCN coding to work, updating the data card at the same time so will look all factory fitted.
It can also be enabled with Star developer.

Don't the X204 and C204 use the same NTG4.5 Command Module?

Since they do, why not share knowledge instead of saying "Wrong forum Mike. This is the C Class forum" like there's a difference?

Just sayin' we could all learn at the same time.

Hi can you please confirm if rewiring the single fakra to fit the left (pink) side of the double connector worked for you? Was just plug and play once you activated the reverse camera from the engineering menu?
