I admit to doing this once.... but for the love of FSM, engage your parking brake.

How are you going to find a hill in Miami?

Personally, I would not use it. I've had a habbit of using neutral when stopped, hills or flats, and use light brakes. This unloads the torque converter and stops heating the trans oil, especially at long lights and/or hot summer days on radiant tarmac.

I thought the HOLD function was instead of hill assist, so i tried it without any hill.

Its working fine, just hit the brakes and push it a little harder and the HOLD function is born.

on a separate note.. when the car is on a slope and you release your brake, it will stay on for an extra second or two. Tried it today on a slope.

When on flat surface, the brake release is instant.

I've figured out yesterday, when the car is at full stop, give the brake pedal a QUICK hard press, HOLD will be activated, if I press the brake pedal slowly, the HOLD won't happen no matter how hard I press it. It works this way in my car.
You don't have to find a hill to try, I use it while I'm waiting for the traffic light.

You have a 2011, with hill start assist (read owner's manual, does not work on downhill), Hold started in 2012 for c-class, as thread title suggests.

Now try agility control (I think all W204 new models have it, at least in canada and US) . Push button on dash to select a sport mode, where shocks get stiffer for cornering flatter, and the atx eng/trans "sport mode" is automaticaly selected for quicker shifts and higher revs, and a "sprint-booster" like feature is engaged for quicker throttle response.

Important Edit: Basic "agility control" is on at least all new C-Class models. But, what I described was "advanced agility control" a special option, likely with package. See my post 45 for details, and thanks acr2001 for the correction

Sarcasm? No agility control standard in the US. Not sure about Canada.

My car doesn't have a button on dash to select a sport mode, there is a E S button besides the gear selector, is it the one?

No. That is the Eco / Sport setting for the transmission - that button is standard. You do not have agility control.

Works on an upslope only, not downhill.

works on my 2012 face lift. I see there is a "Hold" icon displays in the instrument cluster. I do not have to press the brake that hard as well.

press brake , when the car is complete halt , press the brake even more and you will see it in instrument cluster "Hold" is engaged. then you can take your foot off the brake. My Start stop function also engages itself when the car is complete halt before I can even engage the "Hold"

On gear box I have S, C, and M. M is for shifting gears with flippers behind the steering wheel (paddles shift). Comes with AMG package.

The agility control is something different. You get an extra button on dash saying "SPORTS"

if you do not have a face lift then "Hold" will not work cose its not there. I had the 2008 model as well.

Hardly. Just being wrong

All C-Class models, 2012 and likely under, have "Agility Control" dampers (with automatic adjustment for running a long rough gravel rd vs smooth highway). What I meant to describe was "Advanced Agility Control" or "Dynamic Handling Package" with driver adjustable soft and very stiff modes, with interfaces as I had described. Not sure af the switchable AAC can be ordered w/o a wheel package (DHP).

Sorry about that, I'll edit my post, and thanks for reading it carefully !

No worries! Active Agility Control must be a nice feature.

I activated it accidentally when trying to park the car after taking it for a test drive... but now that I have the car, I don't think I actually use it (intentionally) other than to see if it's there! It is an interesting feature and I'm sure it'd come in handy but I prefer to just use my foot for this lol.

I think it should be a standard feature for every car, I really like it
