Non garaged c200

One of my hesitations to buying this car was not being able to keep it in a garage. Any tips for my Midwest exposed Benz. Also how many others do not have an enclosed garage to keep their car in.

As far as I know many a person doesnt have there car in a garage in the midwest I cant image theres much to worry about, you dont have the snow issue as bad as the north and here in FL I dont know of any one who keeps there car in a garage.

Here atleast if your direclty on the water (meaning an island) then you can get lots of sea salt deposits, and of course all cars get pollen in spring. It doesnt hurt anything

Take your car to a detail shop, wash, clay, wash, polish, SEAL, wax and you'll be set for around 6 months of ext protection. Also I would suggest getting a California car duster and spray detailer for in between washes. I was the car by hand once a week or at least spray with detailer if I can't wash and the car stays in amazing shape. If you're really worried then get a good car cover, make sure it's not an abrasive material though as my friend used one like that on his top of the line Lexus and got all these scratches all over the body.

It's really not that big of a deal as long as you take care of your car - which you will have to do a lot more often without the garage.

Hell, the MB dealer in Brooklyn where I bought my car stores their inventory on a freaking PIER! When the recent hurricane hit NYC they had to move their entire inventory off site.

Generally you damage your paint the most when improperly washing or waxing it. Especially when drying it with towels.

I keep my car in the garage. Like others have stated- most of the damage is from improper washing/drying. The cars do have great paint (at least compared to what I've had before).

Give it a wash & polish once a month.Use vinyl 303 protectorant for the inside plastics & leather cream to stop the leather drying out.

Also use sunshades to protect the inside. Only takes 5 seconds to put in place.

Thanks

Hello,
Thanks to everyone. Your suggestions are so helpful. I did purchase the California duster. I heard it can cause swirls or scratches. I may use it or give it my son for my old Toyota that he drives.

I keep all my cars outside. No real special treatments. I do make sure to wash often (top-down) and keep up with wax and clay bar as needed. It is also helpful (for longevity) to allow car to warmup (or at least allow lifters to settle) before driving off.

If the dust is light and the tips of the duster fibers BARELY touches the paint, you'd probably be ok.

However, one is tempted to move quickly and push down more on the duster, and then you could have some swirls.

Overall, not having a garage will probably cause you to have to clean the car more often. This will likely cause over time, a bit more wear/swirls, etc. However, it doesn't mean one should not get the car, or the number of people who could have a decent car would be so small.

Try to enjoy it. I must suggest against black though! Silvers do the best at hiding swirls.
