C300 (Xpipe + No mufflers) Video

Hey all, I recently had just done a bit of an exhaust mod beyond the standard magnaflow X-pipe. I had the mufflers removed and straight-piped from the x-pipe to the exhaust tips. Before doing this I was wondering what it would sound like, so I made this video to help/inform others about it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKmIiSLovQg

I like it, but I am a young 21 year old. My dad (in his 50's) criticizes me for making a mercedes sound like a ricer civic. But to each's own...

Pros: MUCH louder, much more aggressive rasp, enhances x-pipe sound/usefulness, more top-end "pull"

Cons: More drone, sometimes "too loud" for certain circumstances (sneaking back home late at night), might not pass state inspections, less low-end "pull"

It somewhat gives that C63 ///AMG rasp in person. No, I am by no means saying its as good or better than a C63's exhaust sound. And while there is no replacement for displacement and my 3.0 liter v6 will never have the roar or sound of a 6.3 liter v8, what I meant was that the rasp that accompanies the loud rumble in the c63 is similar to the sound you get on the c300 with an x-pipe and straight pipes (no mufflers).

Hope you enjoy! I know... I am somewhat expecting to get flamed and bad feedback on my mod, but I like it and thats all that matters. But I still appreciate everyone's feedback (good or bad).

I was told by a very reputable Independent MB Mechanic, that installing an X-pipe on a normal C300 or 350 was not recommended. He said something about it creating too much back flow and could possibly injure the engine. He said it is perfectly okay for the C63, because of the horsepower and torque difference. Anybody else hear of this?

sounds a lot more throaty, def not anything near an AMG v8 wich is deep and subtle, sounds more like an F1 car to me. Its def pingy and you can tell its a V6 but its a good sounding one.

Def is excessively loud, I like exhaust but that must have a terrible drone on the highway.

Kudos for doing something no one really has

Surprisingly the drone really isn't that bad. Its noticeable, and somewhat annoying under acceleration and when driving in 6th gear. But once the car shifts into 7th gear (around 65-70mph) the drone is actually almost non-existant. And whatever sound that does remain, I actually like. Definitely no worse drone than the stock Mustang v6 or v8 GT I used to have (early 2000's).

Have to side with your dad - and I am only a few years older than you. Your car sounds extremely silly, immature, cheap and obnoxious.
If I were one of your neighbors who had to wake up to your illegally loud exhaust every day I would be sure to get the cops involved. We were just having a discussion about inconsiderate people like you on the C63 forum. Exhaust mods are perfectly fine if you want to change the sound of your car - but you cross a line when you go removing the mufflers and blasting everyone around you like that.

Sorry - just telling it like it is.
Rather than uselessly bicker with you I'll leave the thread now. Adios!

I wasn't even responding to you. And you have to learn the difference between "your" and "you're" at least you got it right this time ^

Go floor your silly little exhaust system (or lack thereof) in the driveway. It'll make you feel better.

NOW I legitimately have to run, but won't be coming back to this thread.

Sorry I didn't mean to offend the grammar queen . I perfectly aware your responce wasn't to me , I just don't like it when people get flamed for no reason at all . If you don't like that's all you need to say . Calling someone immature because his exhaust loud only illustrates your childish nature . People like you are the reason others stop using the forums and screw up their car because they're too worried about flaming . But your mature so you know all this . Happy motoring . To everyone else sorry for contaminating the thread like this especially op , just can't stabs when keyboard nerds think they can get away with dbaggery .

not a huge fan of this mod either, loud exhaust on fairly slow cars seems odd, but just so you know I am around your dad's age(I have a 22 year old son) so my opinion doesn't mean much within your peer group. How about a couple drive by clips so we can hear what it sounds like outside the tunnel? I have a 3.6 CTS that I had some magnaflow exhaust work done on and every time I hit the ramp going up in the parking garage I crank it for a couple seconds, sounds great indoors...

I was going to go with the same setup, but I decided to go with magnaflow mufflers instead of a straight pipe. Now, I'm glad I didn't go with that setup, because that is LOUD inside your car! Even now, I think my car is too loud in-cabin between 2K-3K RPMs, but from the outside it sounds like music to my ears. If only there was some way to quiet down the in-cabin noise. Dynomatting the spare trunk space did not help, or didn't help much.

Let's hear some of your exhaust from the outside!

EDIT: Were your windows down while you were under that bridge?

JcTevere try to make another video but not in the tunnel, have 1 of your buddies record it for you. In my car I've deleted the resonator and replaced it with an X-Pipe and also removed the secondary cats and put straight pipes and I love the sound of it.

Lol, I don't even know where to start... First things first, I can GUARANTEE that my car is not anywhere near as loud as a C63 (even stock C63) when started. The fact that you would be THAT GUY to get the police involved really says a lot. In fact, I have even passed inspection with it like this, it is not illegal in NYS to not have mufflers, as long as it is under a certain decible (to my knowledge).

The fact that you say I'm inconsiderate I find quite funny... You don't even know me or my driving style/habits. I made this video for education purposes and don't drive aggressively. Also, the exhaust is loud, don't get me wrong, but its not THAT loud. This is a very big underpass, with my windows open and the sound is GREATLY amplified above normal conditions - or even normal underpasses for that matter, given the length of this one.

To everyone else who was nice enough to give me your opinions in a respectful way (even negative) I appreciate the feedback and advice. I am definitely going to get some more videos of my setup without the underpass so you get a better sense of what it sounds like in person. I only did this because it gives you a nice sound of the characteristics the x-pipe and straight pipes add. I also plan on adding quad tips (which may or may not alter the sound).

P.S. Thanks for getting my back Hitokiri! =P

Bro don't listen to them, it sounds awesome. I have just an X-pipe on mine and I sometimes wish it was louder in all honestly. Just because some people have a hateful opinion on how it sounds; means nothing. If everyone liked everything, who would be different? No-one. Keep up the good work and happy modding!
