C300 Folding Mirrors squeak.
I have my mirrors set to fold in when i lock the car, and ive noticed lately they squeak loudly when folding in or out. I originally thought it was just rain getting in them when the were folding but apparently not considering this has been going on for over a month now. Any suggestions on a way to grease them or fix this problem? Thanks

The only fix that worked for me was to replace the noisy mirror. If you are out of warranty this will be expensive. Mine was replaced under warranty but I saw the invoice to MB - it was over $500.

Even MB has no good fix for this problem other than replacement. That is the reason it was only on the '08s everyone develops this problem sooner or later. When I had my '08 I stopped using that feature.

There are actually fixes contrary to whats posted, and MB dealers have the Tech updates and fixes to do it, just bring it in. They will figure it out. If out of warrantee, then I suggest simply disable them.

Please post the fix so that even if people use a dealer they can tell them what to do. Most dealers are not the brightest crayons in the box.

I was told in 09 that the only fix was to replace. It took two days for them to do one mirror so when it started again I just had my SA note it in the cars records and disabled it. If a fix came later no one posted about it or I would have had it fixed before trading it in on the 11.

My dealers been on top of any issue I have, but I work here so my views a bit jaded. Mine never squeeked personally and there the originals, but I have had friends bring it in for this issue on there 08s. Ill have to ask my tech but I know its a matter of shimming and drilling and light sanding to fix it. I can prob get the tech update, however posting it on here may be a different story. If I get in trouble for posting about burned nav discs on this forums, then who knows what reason youll come up with to ban me on here. Im sorry I just dont have that comfort level with MBWorld admins to do so

ooo i have a 2012 C180 and they squeak occasionally when i lock the cars (auto fold) or unlock them.
Should i be worried about it failing in the future? What causes the squeaking noise?
It's an occasional thing (like once every few days) and I cannot replicate if i go to the dealership...
any suggestions?

From a man that has replaced his mirrors with the later configuration DIY.

My dealership fixed the squeek on mine. I don't know if it was repaired or just replaced, but there was a TSB on it. The squeek did return eventually but not as bad, but I later replaced them with the 2010+ style aftermarket mirror housings and the squeek so far hasn't returned.
If your dealership can't fix it, you can take the mirror apart and apply white lithium grease (a weather proof lubricant which could be found in any auto parts store) to the pivot hinge.

THATS what takes more then 15 min. Even light bulbs some times aren't a 10 min process, esp on ML R and GLs and many other benzs

Well I thought I was being helpful offering to send out a nav dvd but its in some by law I can't on here, Id assume giving out the document for a dealer repair would fall under that. If you can assure me it won't, Ill be happy to post it.

Just post the repair method like we post dealer bulletins & WIS methods. The Nav DVD issue is one of direct infringement of copyright. WIS repair methods etc are considered reasonable use of data in the public domain.
