Blackout Tape

Anyone have their chrome window trims blacked out. I can't find anyone doing this service anymore. Any place to buy proper 3M matte tape?

Um you can paint it yourself with bumper coating paint thats what I did. The trim can be taken out xxhotel made a diy how to take it off. Another place to buy vinyl would be bmw shadow line

Believe it or not, professional grade electrical tape works wonders... correct amount of sheen, correct color, and easy to apply and trim, sticks very well, and easy to replace if needed!

I used the blackout tape on my trim . Works great but takes a few try's to get it right. You should order at least two rolls . Got mine of amazon.

Trim Brite from Amazon like Hito said. Two rolls needed and you'll have extra to do the trunk lid handle as well. Check the following threads for details/pics.

Electrical tape will leave a hell of a sticky black mess behind if you ever decide to remove it.

Yes it does if you remove it in the warmer summer months.... but I would wait for the cooler 40'F (not winter months) to do any replacing and it never left any glue residue. I preferred the professional 3M tape, because it was more malleable than junky tape. Plus I preferred how it looked, it's durability too and the matt black sheen surface was superior over trimbrite... just my opinion!

Is this stuff easily removable? Any reason why you didn't use it on the upper?

just search ebay for 3m 1080 vinyl ....or you can use vinyl drawer liner in black of course.
I did mine before and it worked really well. I am switching to 3m 1080.. Remember use a heat gun, not a blow dryer.. it works wonder..

Yes its easily removable, reason why i didnt use it on the upper is due to the lenth and compound of the curve on that piece of trim.

I too used the 3M electical tape. 3/4" and it turned out great. We will see how it holds up to the summer here in South Carolina. Haven't done the lower window trim yet.
