Anyone running 255/40-17 ?

I cannot stand the front 225/45's having a taller sidewall than the rear 245/40's - the sidewall height of the 255/40 is almost identical to the fronts (depending on brand) - anyone running this size on the stock amg 17 inch wheels?

Never done it personally, but you should have zero problems increasing the rears by 10mm in width. You're not slammed to the ground wrt suspension, right?

Thanks - 235 40 or 45 in the front? If 45's sounds like you duplicated the issue, 235 45 are now .2 inches taller in the sidewall than the 255's ....with the fronts staying 225/45 and changing the rears to 255/40 that are the same at 4.0 inches. I am going with the DWS also...you have any pics?

I am stock height Doanstar, thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am running 235/45/17 and 255/40/17. It's a .29 inch diameter difference between front and rear with rear being slightly shorter. With the OEM conti's the the difference was .26 inches between front and rear in diameter so extremely close with only a .03 difference.

From OEM to the DWSs I am running, there is a .35 inch height increase on the front and .32 inch increase in the rear. You REALLY, REALLY have to look closely to see that difference.

I don't have any current pictures. Will get some tomorrow and post.

Regards,

This is a VERY useful tool to use when fitting rims and tires as well. I just wish I knew what the hub to fender measurement was for the regular W204. I'm going to measure tomorrow and post it on the forums.

Yes, that is the calculator I use also RLE.

However, The difference in sidewall height I noticed visually the moment I bought the car and it has bothered me ever since. Now that I need tires for the first time, I want to "correct" it with moving to the 255's out back...I realize it is just a personal opinion type of thing, but since they fit without issue it will make me a little happier....
