The Saga of Dings and Scratches

Well my new baby, as of July 2011, has its third little scrape.
I was able to cover it with touch up paint.
Even though no one would really notice it unless they got very close. I hate it. So I thought I would start a thread of all the Benz's owners that want to vent about their ding and scratches saga and how you handled and repaired it.

i just had some kind of debris smack into the front edge of the hood, right next to the top emblem, putting a good sized ding right there. this was my first blemish that can be seen without special lighting maneuvers..

Sucks, not sure if i'll have it repaired or not.

I have some small car door dings, however the one that really gets to me is the boot dent put in my car by a crazy ex-girlfriend. That thing has been there over a year and needs to go. Paintless Dent Wizard appointment this summer.

Dear Diary,
Yesterday I noticed a new scratch underneath the handle on the driver side. I want to ask my wife if she knows what happened to it, but I'm afraid that if she says "yes" or says "no" but looks like she's lying that I may put her in the hospital again. And NO the first time wasn't my fault... I'm not the one that curb checked the rim. Looks like another $125 trip to the bodyshop.

I bought the car with 4 or 5 dings on the driver side varying from noticeable to unnoticeable. Also on the drivers side a long vertical indent caused from the side of a door. I figured someday I'd have it all paintless removed. My passenger side was perfect, until about about a week ago

I was sitting in my car parked next to my friend who was sitting in his coupe which is a coupe. He opened his door and I heard a little bump, figured it was probably okay, but then I looked and saw a pretty damn noticeable ding one my clean passenger side. I was/still am so angry! I just wish I parked further away

I also have some dings on my trunk and hood from acorns in my driveway.

Anyone know the common pricing for paintless dent removal?
I heard $100 a panel, but it almost seems low. Also, does the W204 have aluminum doors? what about trunk and hood? I have heard aluminum is harder to repair.

I had someone put a footlong vertical dent in my passenger side door when my car was only a few months old. It almost seemed intentional. I try to park as far away as possible from other cars, but there's ALWAYS some moron in his hooptie parked right snug next to my car when I come back to it! Anyways, my dent cost $275 to get out, but it's as if it was never there. As long as the paintwork is not compromised a PDR shop can do some pretty amazing work. Most going rates are $75 for a quarter-sized dent, so you can guesstimate for larger ones. $100 for a panel full of dings is low, but would be accurate for a 1.5-inch ding.

Is this long vertical indent right under the the side mirror towards the front? I have this weird vertical dent that's straight as an arrow and can only really be seen if you look at it at an angle. It's weird. I don't think it was caused by an impact of any kind.

Angry

literally the first w/e with my car, my GF walking parallel to my car goes for the passenger door handle and with her ring leaves a good 4inch scratch on the rear passenger door.

Unhappy Dings and Scratches saga

I only had my baby 2 months and my husband pulled his truck too close and knicked the bumper. Okay I go to the dealer they say $500.00 and suggested I buy touch up paint. I did you cannot tell unless you get really close.
About 3 months later I am pulling into a parking space with the concrete blocks. I mean I am being so careful and I hear the sound. Once again touch up paint. This one you cannot see.
Finally Sunday backing out of the drive way trying to avoid my husbands truck I Knick it a tiny bit. Touch up paint. again. You really do not see them. I just wonder if a detail after I have had it a year will make a difference. Alas, I am not the only one.
I just wanted it to be pristene for a few years.

Touch up paint.

I got mine from the dealer. They say I do such a good job they cannot see my dings.
I think they are just being nice.

The front fenders are aluminum and that's all.

Here's salt in the wound: took my '09 C 300 to the dealer-recommended body shop after I was hit in the rear bumper, and the the shop put a really noticeable scratch in the metalwork (down to the primer), on the non damaged side. Maybe to drum up a little more business? No way I had them repaint the scratch, the bumper had a flaw in it after their painter messed it up. I was living on an island, and I was leaving, so I just sucked it up.

I'll use touch up paint, maybe try Scratchdoctor or whatever it's called they say their product is not so effective on wider scratches but it's worth a try. Anything for science

Dr. Colorchip makes a pretty good product for small dings and chips. The paint matches my palladium 100%, and the small stone chips that that I've covered with it are not visible from one foot away.

Damn I hate people!!! Just noticed four, YES FOUR, door dings on the passenger side of my wife's car.

Looks almost like somebody parked a four door car next to hers and got hit by the front and rear doors of that same car.

Luckily the paint is OK and they are fairly small and not noticeable until looked at from the right angle, but still. There were no dings whatsoever on the damn car when we got it three months ago. Well... At least the driver's side is still pristine.

Yes I did. Have a friend who's a PDR guy and he verified when he pulled a dent that it was aluminum. My hood is rediculously light. Tech at the dealership put a dent in it with his palm when he closed the hood. That wouldn't happen with steel. Must be a mix of hoods out there apparently.

Do the magnet test and report back.

My sincere apologies RLE! You were 100% right. It is in fact steel. Everyone has told me it was aluminum including my salesman at the MB dealership sorry for doubting you.
