+1 - especially about anyone who has sat in an S class with it's lounge like seats.

The reason I am not in a coupe is because I can't get my head out of the damn roof on them. I'm long in the torso and it tends to mess with me. Everyone is built different.

I guess I am just extra sensitive to the seats because I have a bad back. Compared to my dad's mint 300e where I can totally take a nap while in there, this mbtex seats are really bad. The material is definitely cheap, once it rips you can see it. Also the legroom is limited for a relatively taller person. Oh well, if only I knew this when I purchased the car lol I guess I have to keep playing around with it....and also BMW seats are really comfy as well for one of the posters.

Since these aren't technically leather, how do you all maintain them? Should you treat with leather conditioner?

My biggest complaint with MBTex is that it makes the car smell like crayons.

The main deterioration is plasticiser leach out. Reduce sun exposure & keep clean. You can't really put platicisers back in but some products claim to reduce loss. Leather products are no good for MBTex.

To tell you the truth, I haven't been looking but I'll take your word for it Glyn!

Yea, I do wish the better contour seats were available stateside for the C-Class Sedan Sport...

Please allow me to recommend the best product on the market for MBTex reconditioning. Over my many years of owning and working on boats at the Marina, (with seats that are almost fully exposed to the elements) I discovered this product by 3M... try it, you'll love it!

PS: Never, ever use Armor-all interior conditioner on MB-Tex

You can't blame the seating material for the comfort and legroom in the car.

I'm 6'1", 240lbs (getting a little chunky these days) and I love the way the seats feel. If I were out for a track day, I would want more lateral support, but for my everyday driving style, they fit me well.
For contrast, I hate the seats in the A4. No matter how I adjust them, they just don't feel right. I fell more like I am sitting on them than in them.

With all due respect, I can see why you love the flat, wider, less contour, less supportive seats, but they still should make them available for those who can fully appreciate their superior feel and support, as does BMW.

With that type of respect, you can keep it, thanks.
I happen to have a 50" chest and a 36" waist and run about 16-18% body fat, so my point wasn't that I was a fat slob but that I am a big guy.
I am pretty sure that most owners, not just the smaller, weaker, sarcastic ones can fully appreciate superior seats.

Sorry, but you're the one who described yourself, not me! I'm just in love with the seats in my GT-R, and wish Benz would make their sport seats available for the USA as well.

Yeah - The inflatable bladders in the bolsters, squab & lumbar region should achieve comfort for all. I don't much care for the massage feature but that's personal.

There you go - that is the sort of product you need. Carsy also posted some fancy product a while back that had good credentials.

Wow... just wow...

Just out of curiosity - do you intend to come off as brash and offensive in many of your posts, or does it just happen naturally?

Regarding those complaining about the so called FLAT seats, remember who these cars are generally marketed to. MB figures if you want sporty, step up to an AMG C63.

You're comparing a Luxury 4 door grocery getter to a Supercar?

But you see, it's more than that now. Mercedes is losing market share here in the USA to BMW, who have done away with the couch-like seating.

"Wow"??? C300Sport says he's getting "a little chunky" and it's my fault for stating the obvious? I don't think so. Way too sensitive.

Of course not... read the whole thread, and then an extension of this thread and video: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...50-vs-bmw-328i. Glyn and I were just wishing that the better contour seats found in the coupe were available as an option in the states for the sport sedan. That's all... please don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Not really sensitive but you must know that anytime you start a sentence with "With all due respect" it is a precursor for saying something you feel yourself to be a bit disrespectful. I may even agree with your thinking that more restrictive seats can be better appreciated by smaller individuals but thought it shortsighted to think they are the only ones that could appreciate the finer things in life such as supportive seats.
Personally, the only seats I couldn't really take on a daily basis were on a Lotus Elise....of course just getting in there was interesting...
We are all on here for fun and knowledge so hopefully no one gets too worked up over a bit of a zing or jab or misinterpreted statement every now and then.

When it comes to personal matters beyond our opinions on cars, the concept of the "unspoken thought" is often the diplomatic solution called for.

Does that exclude Glyn's "Germans with large butts" comment? Just saying.

His was a general comment, not directed personally and specifically at someone on this thread. I think you get the difference and understand how it feels to be on the receiving end of less-than-desirable responses.

Enough said about our physiques by each other...let's move on.

I was just curious.
An option for AMG like seats or something would be cool. However like I mentioned before, it's probably due to marketing and them wanted the more sports oriented to opt for a higher model c63. It might take away from the sports division oriented AMG if a C300 can be optioned out to look like one.

Far comparison but..
Kinda of like why BMW took out the LSD option for anything non///M.

Thats is a f'in funny comeback - good schtick in the 'ole forum today.

I am German, got no ***, very opinionated, but not sensitive, still work out, but not in perfect shape - I have no clue how to react to all this hahahaa...

Easy to find product that I use regulary is Mothers VLR (Vinyl, Leather, Rubber) cleaner conditioner, red bottle in most auto chain stores that sell car care products - cleans very well, dries with ZERO residue, smells wonderful, etc....
