i don't remember the exact year but there is a facelift for the w204. i believe it was '09 into '10 but idk exactly. all i know is that the old one is ugly as hell (in my opinion) and felt completely strayed from Mercedes. The newer model, with the redesigned interior is pretty damn good looking though. also, the 2007 and 2008 model m272 engines have some very expensive repairs that are almost guaranteed that you will need. i would avoid those years at all cost. nothing about the vehicle is appealing to me. however, the newer models have solved these issues and are very attractive.

I'm pretty sure 08 was the first year in the states and I had no issues but the rear wiring harness. But I miss my folding mirrors as they took them away here cause people complained about the noise from the wind and when they folded

What about the 7g transmission? Is it only in the two wheel drive model and not the 4matic? I heard if the car has that in it that you should run in the opposite direction.

The quality data suggests improvements were made from 08 onward until the C Class took the segment award for best initial quality from JDPower for 2010. I would suggest getting the newest car you can, all other things (condition, mileage) being roughly equal. BTW, my 2009 has been about the most trouble-free car I've ever owned.

Just imagine if it had 17% more horsepower ;-)
OP-All the automatics have the 7 speed - if you care for it properly and follow the correct service intervals you should not have an issue. Not sure of any major changes '08 to '09, someone did mention the folding mirrors but not sure when they went away.
And ignore the burrito guy with the 1999 car - he is clueless. While the facelift year did a great job to enhance the interior and update it quite nicely, the exterior changes were insignificant and would be hardly noticeable to anyone other than a MB owner...
50K miles - zero issues with the motor or trans and my car is driven like it is built to be, not babied by any means - good luck with your purchase.

You are coming from an 03 W211.. it is a huge step forward in reliability. Stuff happens. The EIS has failed on some W204s. It has also failed on some W203s. It's not guaranteed either way.

Since the 03/04 W211s were electronic disasters and along with the early W203 were responsible for MB losing it's worldwide engineering reputation, any W204 will be a breath of fresh air.
