Side Marker Delete

I have the opportunity to get my side marker holes filled in, and I have a few questions.

What do I do about the bulb?
- If I keep a bulb in its place, I think some light will shine through little crevices around the bumper, so what do I do about that?
- If I take the bulb out, I'll get a bulb out warning. Is there any way to prevent this?

Is there anything else that I should be concerned with when doing this mod?

Increased likelihood of a night-time side impact at an intersection, as drivers who expect to see a certain lighting pattern may not recognize your presence. Lots of research went into deciding if these lights had any value before they were required. If such happens, do not depend on your insurance to provide coverage based on your alteration. Also, an astute officer may issue you a violation if stopped for any reason.

This and that.
I wouldn't do it. I don't feel that it would particularly be a good mod to begin with, in addition to the couple issues mentioned by Sportstick. I like the look of the side marker, just not the amber one's.

That's why I love the way mine look. When parked- the car looks "cleaner". When running the amber is visible.

That does look nice! Is it vinyl or paint?

It's wrapped in 3M Scotchprint 1080 Gloss vinyl and took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I have the vinyl to match Iridium Silver and Palladium Silver.

I agree it's a safety issue. But why not include them on some Euro W204 Models. Just saying? Seems like a Law issue more than a benz issue.

Different regulatory bodies have reached different conclusions based on their local data and how they evaluate data for new requirements. Some European countries require side marker repeaters, some rear fog lamps. Mexico requires fire extinguishers. In the US, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had to positively demonstrate to the General Accounting Office that the benefit outweighed the cost to society, and the public and manufacturers had the opportunity to comment or present opposing information. If anyone felt the decision was made arbitrarily, judicial review was available for potential reversal, which did not happen. All in all, very good evidence of a real benefit.

Yeah, thought of covering mine in some vinyl as well. They're hideous, and on red, clear or smoked lights will just make them stand out even more. Yuck!
