shutting down airbag light

is it possible to shut off my airbag light on my 2011 c300 sport 4matic for now because i got in a wreck and the knee airbag deployed fixed the car but i don't have enough money to buy the airbag now so i was wondering on how i could shut the airbag light off for now till i get money to buy a new one because it keeps distracting me while staying on when i am driving.

Being that the air bag is missing, even if you reset the light it would come back on. I think you should get a new air bag as soon as you can.

There might be a way to permanently turn off the air bag light but I am not aware of any.

Isn't this what insurance is for? I don't get it. Now the safety of the car is compromised. And it's still basically new.

I'm not aware of how you'll fool this system. Even if you pulled the gauges and removed the light, the error would still show on the screen.

I truly hope there is no easy way for you to 'turn off' the light. Not because I have anything against you, but because that would make it easy for someone to do that and then sell a car to an unsuspecting person when it is compromised.

Get the airbag replaced as soon as possible. Until then, it's only a light.
Most importantly, I believe that if the light is on, your entire SRS system is disabled in the case of a crash (so NO airbags). This may have changed since the past. Anyone who can confirm / deny please chime in.

You are correct. When the light is on the system is off and that includes the belt tensioners. And it takes a dealer's laptop to turn off the light.

How can a 2011 model not have insurance which covers this as part of the collision repair?

Maybe they have one-way insurance, which covers the other vehicle involved(if at fault) but not your own.

I would imagine the car to have considerable damage to trigger the airbag. Where did your car get damaged and what happened?

Only if the car wasn't financed. I don't know of any place where the bank doesn't require full coverage on vehicles that they are financing. Banks can be crooks, but they're not stupid...

Because if a car is leased or financed, physical damage insurance is required by the real owner which is the bank or leasing company.

You can buy a 2011 C-class in cash but can't afford full coverage? And you thought it was a good idea to have liability on a 2011?

As long as you pay your taxes, no questions asked

It sucks that you got into an accident, but I think you over extended yourself by getting a Mercedes and can't afford to cover it properly.
