I'm thinking of buying used wheels and tires off ebay...
I like these wheels a lot and normally they're $1500 or more. I think this is a really good deal, but I'm a bit wary about buying them.
He says they're balanced and ready to be installed. Is this true? Or do they need to be balanced specifically for my car? Should I get an alignment when installing new wheels or is that unnecessary?
He also wants to do the deal out side of ebay so again I'm kind of unsure, it is understandable though because the fees are high, plus I'm still protected under paypal, although he did suggest me paying by money order to avoid the paypal fees also
which I am definitely not doinghttp://www.ebay.com/itm/320944687703...#ht_500wt_1156
900 for those wheels and tires isnt too bad a deal. they definitely look a billion times better than the bland 17s that came w/them back then.
You'll be happy you have them after you get them on
A few months ago, I found out that one of my rims had enough of a bend that it was causing a kind of vibration that can't be balanced out.
You might not be able to get the seller to warrant that they're not bent but you might be able to use that in negotiations. By the way, these wheels don't unbend very well. They tend to want to spring back when they get hot.
....and yes, I'd definately get them rebalanced with specific attention to whether they're bent or not.

someday I may want to remove the plasti dip. I do like the silver lip idea though as it is an OEM feature on the C63 coupe launch edition:

Sounds like they were well bought, certainly if the 2 tires were as new as described, I think you got a nice deal...Now, looking at the beautiful shiny rims and reading that you are going to spray that garbage rattle can flat black crap all over them is just a shame...to each his own I guess....might as well just spray your stockers crappy blackdip and save the money, same dirty looking boring results...

True.
That's exactly what my dad sad when I mentioned my plan to him, but the stuff is totally removable, so why not? Basically I really wanted the 18s but for a little while I want to try out the black wheels look, so I figured plasti dipping the amg 18s is the best of both worlds, I figure once I graduate college I'll remove the plastidip
.[/QUOTE]Maybe it is my Dad side (age) showing through then - I have one who just graduated college and one who is on his way August 23rd....Do what makes you happy, I get it now...
