Angry Hit and run on my 204

So I walk out the door this morning to go to work and find this. Someone jumped the curb took out a fire hydrant slammed into my neighbors car and pushed it into mine. Then they left the scene. I'm guessing a drunk driver . Only good this was normaly my evo is parked where that little silver car is but dropped it off at the shop last night or I would have 2 smashed up cars.

The C350 is sitting there like "Who threw that rock?"

Sorry about the damages, though. Looks like it can be fixed as new with no lingering effects.

Looks like it may be just the front door. Is there any damage under the door? Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

OMG, that blows! Townhouse community? Walk around today, and tomorrow and inspect all cars for front end damage. Alert neighbors to be on the lookout as well. Either someone had their car in Drive, while thinking it was in reverse, or vice-a-versa and slammed down on the accelerator, or as you said, was drunk, texting or both and jumped the curb. It had to be a kid, look around, he/she lives there. Good luck getting it fixed.

Interesting theory. See if you can examine the Sonic and find/preserve paint fleck transfer from the original striking vehicle and measure the height off the ground of the strike. This may come in handy if/when you think you find the offending vehicle.

Actually, I had the same thing happen when I lived in a TH community here in Rockville, Md. some years ago. It took a week, but we (the HO Assoc. and I) eventually found the person that did it. The 15 year old had no license, never told his parents (who were at work 90% of the time, and used the metro since we all were in walking distance) that he would take their car out for a joy ride every once in awhile, and wore thick glasses with 20/200 vision. The damage to his car, which he kept hidden in the garage (some units had them, others didn't) was consistent with the accident (to our Lexus GLS400) and the unique cinnamon red paint of my GS was all over his front end. The poor guy's parents went berserk to say the least. They paid all damages. But the car was never the same.

Strange thing is really no paint makes on the sonic but the fire hydrant has a ton of black pant on it . Yes we did also look around the neighboring streets but havent found anything. I think I got lucky as it appears thats only the driver door is damaged. The hood and driver side rear door still open and clse fine.

Wow that pretty cool that you found out who did it. I hope i can do the same. The sad thing is like you said after the repair I'm sure it wont be the same. My car before my C350 someone hit and after it was repaired something was rattling on the inside and the paint didnt blend well.

lol yeah it is kinda funny that my C didnt move an inch. Where the sonic made contact with my car it had very heavy damage but only the outer shell of my front door was dented in on my car. If you looked in my car from the passenger side window you can see no damage on the inside. The driver door doesnt even look like it was damaged at least on the inside. Got to love German engineering.

yes it would take something with a lot of weight to it to mow over the hydrant and still push that car that far. If it was a car I'm guessing it must have went airborne after hitting the curb and hitting the sonic where it did. I do think that it may be a truck after all it was was still and to drive away. Not to many cars would be able to do that.

Yep! I can see this. But a car hitting a curb at a fairly high rate of speed will also be thrown airborne. Yet a frustrated large delivery truck pulling a U-turn, or backing up and his rear T-Bar went way too far.... sounds more like it. Has anyone had a large item delivered in the last 24 hours? Really blows man, I feel your pain! Sucks..

No big trucks as far as I know. It had to happen in the hours from 3 am to 6 am this morning. One of my neighbors leaves to go to work at 3am. I talked with him and he said that he would have noticed that if it was done before he left for work. When I woalked out the door at 6 am the damage was already done.

Just curious, is the black paint on the hydrant at about the same height as the damage on the Chevy?

No the paint on the hydrant was really pretty low on it. Found a car in down the road parked in front of some house that has its front end covered and its black. I cant tell if there is any damage but never seen that car covered before. thinking about calling the cops but not sure if they would do anything.

my wife bananas! :D
rough story dude.. I hope you find that person responsible!

I had someone a few years ago back into my car in a public parking lot, cracked my rear bumper then drove away. I remembered the anger I felt when I returned to the vehicle... I never found the guy but I hope you will find yours

Man, I thought I would be the only person who thought of looking around since he lives in a town house... I used to live in a gated townhouse and moved to yet another townhouse. The only cars that are on my street at those hours are paper delivery, residents, and cops once in a blue moon.

Is there a security gate of any kind with a guest log and CCTV camera? Any neighbors with CCTV set up around their perimeter?

I would hope the police would be willing to get involved, especially given the fact that two property owners (you and the Chevy) have incurred significant damage to personal property.

Good luck man. Sorry to hear the bad news.

You should just call the cops to question them and take a look at the car. It's worth a shot

I would have called the police first thing and had them take an accident report the second I found the damage! Taking pictures was good, but to have a Police Report is better. Calling them now, after the fact may be too late. Keep on eye on that covered black car. I would even ring the door bell!
