W205 insight?

The interior looks really close, if not, spot on to those of the spyhots that have been floating around!

you can almost tell how the W205 is gonna look from the A class, it's going to be realll nice, probably blow that new 3 series out of the water.

Design is very subjective, but the powertrain and chassis have a l-o-n-g way to go just to catch up. But, I hope you are right, and that someone gets a brain spark and restores a choice of transmissions...otherwise...yawn.

I hope we get sportier more comfortable seats, I've had enough of the benches in theW204. I kinda like the ones displayed in vid, they look a lot like the units equipped in the W204 coupe!

As far as the power-train and chassises are concerned:

A) DHP will go a long way of improving things.

B) The A250 uses the 7G-DCT 7-speed automatic, hopefully Mercedes will equip the W205 with those units as well.

C) The A250 makes 211hp @5500rpm and 350Nm(aprox 258lb. torque) between 1200-4000rpm

So some nice improvements so far... would they be enough to rival the F30? Probably not, but they're is a lot more development(i hope) to go on before launch.... and I've driven the F30 it's no E30!

The W205 is a seminal model for Benz & they know it. Fortunately for them BMW have blunted the new 3 Series. It is now as big as an old 5 series & while still a little cramped it has been softened considerably to make it more refined & like a Benz to drive. I predict that Benz will overshoot in the other direction & make the W205 more of a driver's car like the A Class.

The W205 will have a broad range of powerplants like the A but will obviously include the new V6 engines as well & a hybrid. Transmissions after info gained at the Geneva show will likely include 6 sp manual, 7 speed DCT & Auto.

For those that don't like auto the 7 speed DCT would seem a no brainer.

Can't comment on what MBUSA will choose to import/manufacture. It will probably revolve around rationalisation at Tuscaloosa.

The new A-Class is awful. And now with 4-cylinder engines in the C except for the C350 Coupe, I will be keeping my present car.

I am not blowing 50 grand on a 4 cylinder car.

i agree. I wouldn't spend close to 50,000 on a 4 cyl car. i'm indifferent about the exterior of the A-class, but i think the new center console is hideous. looks like they just slapped an ipad on it. the circular ac vents looks like it doesn't belong. I do think the new instrument cluster looks nice though

The B-Class based CLA is supposed to base price under the new C (W205), somewhere around $30,000. Depending on how it's equipped, it may be a relatively attractive package, as it is similar in size to the W204. The W205 is expected to grow.

they're bringing the A and B class to the US? i meant close to 50,000 for a nicely equipped C-class. I do hope the w205 grows in size. anywhere between the current C and E class size would be great for me.

This is the showcar version of the B Class based CLA. Imagine the sheetmetal, but without the frilly lighting, grille, and side mirrors. About the same size as a 204, but early reports are that the interior is fractionally larger! Yes, it's FWD, but starting at about $30k USD, you're really going to need to convince yourself about needing that extra room!

The W205 will be available as a V6 in NA. They have already done the deal with Nissan NA to do the engine castings for them.

Aside from the front end, the car doesn't do it for me. 4 cylinders AND front wheel for 30+? i think i'll pass. Mid-20s would be a total different story though.

It's true, a DCT transmission or a good 6 speed are probably the only two things that would really make me want a W205.

Hmm. What's the gas flap doing on the left side? Judging from the size of the back doors, no normal adult could get in there.

Seems similar to the ergonomic challenge of rear seat ingress in a CLS, the spiritual "big brother" of the CLA. With the price point, they are likely targeting younger families and may be presuming a high percentage of kids/teens in the back seat. Most rear seats are unoccupied most of the time, in any event, so form has the opportunity to be triumphing over function.

"The next generation C-Class should hit the market late in 2013 as a 2014 model year according to our sources. The mode known internally as the W205 will move the game on in every direction – weight, efficiency, safety and performance." -autoevolution

"Mercedes Benz is quietly creating a brand new compact car range to rival the new BMW 3-Series. This new C-Class family will go by the name W205, and very little is known other than speculation that it’s lighter and bigger than the W204." -autoevolution

Im excited...
