2009 C300 Sports pkg - Halogen to HID upgrade - low beam and fogs
OK - so i'm trying to determine what HID kit i should get to replace my halogens (low and fogs) with HID. i keep getting contradicting stories when searching online regarding wattage and brand - some say use the 55w for the fogs but some manufactures recommend against that - has anyone here successfully upgraded both their low and fogs to HID from halogen? if so do you have any pictures/links to kits used and their specs.
i want the yellow (3500) look for the fogs and the white/bluish (6k - 8k) for the low beams.. any suggestions

i have 35w and i don't have any problems. only problem with drop in kits i have experienced is that the color isn't always right... for example i ordered some ddm tuning lights for my audi a while back and instead of getting a yellow color produced from the bulbs they would illuminate greenish/yellow personally if you aren't going to buy a nice drop in kit from like www.theretrofitsource.com then don't be scared to try out ebay its cheep but the quality is almost the same as all the other drop in kits out there, sure they there is alway a possibility of them going out with in a year but hey there like 30 bucks on there so replacing them wouldn't mean breaking the bank

I've been using the 4500k (pure white) Morimoto H7 55W kit for my low beams from theretrofitsource for about 6 months now. The quality has been great and I haven't had any flickering or error messages. Customer service is great (you just need to send them a picture if something has malfunctioned under the 5 year warranty). I'd recommend them

I've been running on AZN Optics 5000k H7 kit for my low beams for about a month. I had a problem with the ballast in the beginning and Mike has been really great with his customer service. Sent me a replacement ballast and everything works flawlessly. Highly recommended as well.

I've found that generally the lowbeams are less of a hassle to change to hid and for 55w kits youll need to be careful as I've some burnt out quite badly. Honestly just stick with the 35w, its already a substantial upgrade from your halogens.
Fogs on the other hand for my lux model I could not for the life of me to get them to stop flickering/strobing no matter what kit i used. I have no clue why the sports model doesnt have this issue.

I had a 35w kit for lows and a 55w kit for highs on my previous car from DDM tuning for several years. Worked beautifully and they are only $30 or so per set plus the error cancelers. I am trying to decide if I want to put them on the merc or not.
Edit: And I've always heard to avoid 55w in fogs because the housing is so much smaller, that it doesn't give the bulb enough space for the heat to dissipate.
