How do I know if i have w203 or w204?

2008 61k miles c300 sport. 4 matic

Hello mercedes benz geniuses!!! I have learned so much in just 24 hours from this forum! OMG. It will be my best friend.

My c300 has some weird noise like cards are being shuffled and only comes when my fut is on the gas, when I go really fast, maybe past 50mph the noise quietens down. Many have looked at it, and I'm afraid of even taking it to the dealership because they will just tell me that the noise is normal like they told everyone else who had this issue with the c300... Anyway, How do I know if i have a w203 or w204? What does that mean anyway? I really dont know much about cars so I'm learning more every day. I literally have a notebook where i write down all my notes regarding benzes.
I called my dealership and gave them my vin to check for any recalls. they said yes! The cam shaft (wiring) or something? I have no idea what that is, but I'm taking it in tomorrow to get i fixed. they said it only takes an hour.
another thing my service b is on and past 105 days. I just bought the car 2 weeks ago. I have extended full warranty which wont kick in until 2 more weeks. My regular technician said be carefuly and dont call the warranty. he told me to always go to him for advice FIRST before i go or call anywhere.

I have so many other questions, but cant think of any right now. but i will be back with more!

So glad to be part of this forum! Love u guys already

You have a W204. W204 is just a designation that refers to a specific build platform/style.

great Pete, thank you! How serioius is service b? it says it's exceeded by 105 days. $399? wow for the service fee. But i'm looking at the list and they do a lot for that price it seems. Can I take it anywhere else for less?

Having service done regularly is very important, regardless if it's B or anything else. If you don't get it done on time, your warranty may be denied due to owner's neglect.

Where are you located? In some countries, only MB dealers are authorized to do service while under warranty. In the US, you can get it done pretty much anywhere if you're confident in the quality of work that your indy shop provides. I would not take it to a quickie lube shop, that's for sure. But if you have a trusty indy shop that knows Euro cars, I'd consider it. Chances are, they won't do it for a lot less than the dealer if they're going to be using quality OEM parts and fluids though.

With that said, service B is basically just an oil and filter change, plus cabin air filter change, plus wiper blade insert change, and some inspections. At $399, it is a bit of a ripoff, IMO. Sadly, this comes with pretty much any luxury brand. Hoping you did your research into this before you bought the car. Maintaining it isn't as cheap as your Honda/Toyota, unless you DIY.

I'm in Maryland. I just bought new wiper blades because it didn't pass inspection. I will definitely get it done. I have a coupon I found. I hope they accept it. The car was sitting for over 6 months.

Did you buy it from a Mercedes dealer or private party? If dealer, I'm surprised they did not do the service that was overdue before they sold it to you.

So I'm going for the recall problem today. How should I be prepared? What do I need to know? Can I ask for a print out of the recall problem? He said something about the cam shaft wiring or something. And said I need to leave it for about an hour. I really do NOT trust my SA!

If its a recall then they should know exactly what to do and they should give you a printout of the parts and labor that went into your car. If its an authorized MB service department then you don't have to worry.
