Brakes questions?

Ok on my dad’s e class it has a hold function. Could that be retrofitted? And when I use cruise control and slow down with it it feels like its braking I do not think it’s down shifting. And for the 08 w204 does it use the brakes to dry off the brake disk? So what I am guessing is can the car apply brake force on its own? so maybe it can be programmed to have a hold function.

When you press hard on the brakes at a stoplight or long stop it will hold the brake so you can let your foot off and when you press on the gas it lets go.

I think what you're describing is hill assist.

Yes my mother's 2010 E350 has the HOLD function, but my 2011 C300 does not.

Hill start assist

[QUOTE=W204Man;5448735]No I used it in an e class it will hold the brakes indefinitely until you press on the gas. /QUOTE]

In the W204, on an upslope only, the brakes are held about two seconds, just long enough to move your foot to the gas pedal so as to prevent a rollback.

This was widely discussed about five years ago since the owners were so confused about how it works.

Yes, the E-Class and above do not release the brakes until the gas pedal moves.

My '13 C250 Coupe has the hold function. Press hard on the brake after stopping, a small indicator "hold" appears and you can take your foot off the brake. Something that I never knew I wanted but that I use all the time now.

I was told by the sales guy when test driving a 2013 that all C classes had that function now.
