2009 C300 4matic Sport
Do I have a Luxury or Sport model? (Not a joke!)
Hello everyone,
Just got this car used (from a Mitsubishi dealer, was a trade-in). The sticker says that it is a 2009 C-Class 3.0L Luxury, 4matic, Barolo Red Metallic. However, a few things have led me to believe that the car is not, in fact, what it is described to be.
My first clue that the label is wrong is that the color code listed in the door is C590, which is not Barolo, but Mars Red. A few other things of note are:
1) It has the sport grille and front end (big star, flush emblem on hood).
2) The plastic between the exhaust pipes is black, not red. (I read somewhere that the Luxury model has this part painted the same color as the body)
3) There are different tire sizes for front and back. (I read somewhere that the Lux model has the same size front and back).
4) It takes Premium or Flex-fuel. (I read somewhere that this was only for Lux models)
5) I believe the seats are Sport models, but not 100% sure.
6) I ran a couple of VIN check/decoders, but these never say which trim level the car was built with.
I am attaching some photos, hoping that someone will be able to recognize whether this is a lux model with sport options, or if the dealer just made a mistake in labeling. (Don't get me wrong: I'm very happy with the car, just curious to know which model exactly I have). Don't know if this makes a difference, but the country of manufacture is South Africa, not Germany. Also, you may not be able to see this very well in the pictures but the black plastic between the front fog lights is a 'mesh' design. I've seen pictures of several c300s where this area has black horizontal louvers instead of the mesh design. Again, I'm not sure this makes any difference, but I want to give as much relevant info as I can.

When you run the VIN- look for package 950 (AMG Sportline Package). Wow! They were way off on that description.
