What would you think if I sold my C300 and bought this...
I know its high miles, but it's fair to say these cars are rock solid reliable, the parts are fairly cheap too. This one also looks to be in good shape. The only wild card is the Targa as far as reliability and value goes, but overall the 993 is predicted to be a future classic.
Just thinking it would be a better car to have my money into for the long term. Also, now that I'm away at school, the C just sits for weeks, so the car isn't driven much, which leads me to yearn for a 6-speed when I return.
Just curious what other c300 owners think of a car like this.
I love Benzes, but I got a thing for Porsches too. BMW and Audi can keep trying

I understand wanting the manual to have fun with but 15 years is a long time and while the drive train may be fine other items are going to go and need attention.
What about buying a Miata for $5K - $10K while you are in school and then rewarding yourself after graduation!
Nice car, I would'nt fault you one bit as long as you don't need your rear seats!

Porsche. Also, try to find an independent Porsche mechanic who is honest and fair. I live 2 miles from my independent MB mechanic. He is fair, reasonable, and honest. He services my 09 ML350 and my newly acquired 2012 C300 4Matic sport.
Good luck if you take the plunge.

The old air cooled engines can sound like they are going to simply explode at higher rpms. Some people are really bothered by this while some people love it.
I personally like old cars as they depend on the drivers skills much more than a computer's. Or, while driving something like a 39 Ford Truck, you just learn to sit back and take it easy enjoying the character (whines, squeaks, rattles and smells of oil and fuel) of and older ride.
