Wrapping the Trim

I started wrapping my dash, door, and console trim in 3M Brushed Black Metallic. I pulled the Console off and did that in about 20 minutes. I did the door trim without pulling the panels. The only piece I had trouble with was around the buttons for the seat adjustment on the driver's side. I'll redo that next weekend when I do the dash piece. Here's a couple of pics. I'll post more of the finished product next week. I think it looks 1000 times better than the granny-style wood and is super easy to do.

Thanks. Just smooth them out as you go. No bubbles at all.

Where did you buy the wrap? I've been thinking about doing this but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Your pics look so clean I might have to start on mine now.

Thanks. I originally got it from autovinylsolutions<dot>com when I did my Bimmer. I started on my Merc with the scraps I had left over. I just ordered more from metrorestyling<dot>com so I can finish. They were much cheaper. Use the 3M Scotchprint. It's the easiest stuff to use and comes in lots of colors and textures. You can get enough to do the entire interior and have lots left if you mess up for about $40. Use a sharp razor blade for cutting and make sure you clean the area with rubbing alcohol first. You can do a cleaner job by pulling the trim off the dash and doors, but not necessary. The console trim needs to be removed to do a clean job, but it pulls right up, with two screws holding the ashtray. It's a lot easier than it seems. Good luck. Post some pics when you're done.
Oh, and doing the area around the seat adjustment buttons (if located on the driver's door) is really tough. I did mine 3 times and it is still bad. I'll pull the door panel tis weekend and do it again. And if you do the doors trim with pulling them off, be careful not to cut the leather door panel!!!

The dash and console pretty much just pop off, if I recall correctly. Pull the ashtray out and remove two screws. The shifter panel pops off. I did't remove the ashtray cover. The whole ashtray comes out and I just left the cover on and wrapped it. When I did my Bimmer, I removed the lid and it never went back on right.

It takes like 2 seconds, just pop and boot then pop the console, make sure you disconnect the cable under it.

This guide should help

Looks great! Did you do the door panels while on the car, or did you remove them?

Thanks for the post. Just got my c250 a couple of weeks ago and the wood trim is starting to irk me. You just inspired me to wrap the trim. Can anyone guide me to removing the door trim? Do I need to remove the door panel?

Yeah, you have to remove the door panel to get the door trim off, but it's just as easy to wrap the trim with it on. Just be careful with the blade and don't cut into the leather panel. What color are you going to go with?

I have a 2012, there's a long dash piece above the glove box. Anyone know how to get that off? the 2009's don't have this piece.

I tried to remove the door panels but I didn't want to break anything so I gave up.

i'm thinking of either going with the black or anthracite carbon fiber wrap. also, do you know what the difference between the di-noc and the 1080 scotchprint wraps are?

Gently pry it with a trim removal tool or something similar. Start at the side and move toward the center.

I liked the DiNoc better. Not much difference, but it seemed easier to work with; more flexible. Not sure if there is a specific difference though.

Wrap came in today and I decided to not wait for the weekend and did it tonight. It's very easy to do. It took me less than an hour to do the pieces that I did. I didn't take any pieces off of the car but as it was mentioned above be very careful as you cut because you might cut the leather. You have a good bit of room though just make sure you have a sharp razor so you don't have to apply much force when cutting.

There is a pic with the door handle wrapped but I didn't like it much so I took it off. I did the ash tray cover too. I attempted to do the trim around the shifter without taking it off but i messed it up. I will do that another time as I think I will have to take that piece off to get it the way I want it.

I only ordered one 5x1 roll. I still have a few pieces left over but not big enough for anything. I am going to order another roll to do the gear shift trim and attemp to do my steering wheel. I also want to cover up the chrome trim on the outside of my car as well but I have a feeling that will be harder than it looks.
