Top Gear also reviewed the CLA45 and the A45, liking the latter far more. One can be sure that this new 2.0L 354 HP and 332 lb-ft motor will raise the bar on production engine HP per L.

Yeah! The Top Gear folk are in South Africa right now for their annual festival. We all love them to bits but don't take their road tests too seriously. They are not about to spoil a good story with the facts.
That said MBSA has already stated that the CLA 45 will come here with a more taught suspension setup to suit local tastes. We don't like boulevard cruisers.
This whole exhaust issue is a conundrum. I drive an SLK55 quite frequently & that bellow from the tail is intoxicating & takes me back to my youth & many Alfa's I owned with performance exhausts. I like it in small doses these days. As an every day driver it would drive me mad.

What I said in Post #27 is incorrect, of course the 2010 Mitsubishi EVO X FQ400 had a 2.0L turbo with 405 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, for some reason this didn't go much further as production was only 100 units. Did 0 to 60 in 3.5 secs., not too shabby.

Back in the "old days" when Abarth was king of exhausts, just unbolting the flange between the exhaust and the custom headers on my 1968 BMW 2002 gave full fortissimo and another few HP for racing, so driving to Watkins Glen was legal. Nowadays everyone transports their BMW 2002's on trailers for SCCA races.
